I've been searching for two days for answers, but I still can't seem to figure out the wheel fitment deal.

I understand that the GT-Four came with stock 215/50R16s, and according to this info, the offset of 35mm should do the trick when getting new rims. Also, looking through this collection of user submitted rims, most 17x8 offset 35mm look like no spacers are needed.

Now, I'm planning on getting some 17" Rota wheels, and the guy at the shop did a quick google as for fitment and suggested that I'd be ok with 17x8 and an offset of 35mm, with 215/45R17s. I'm still new to rims, and I just want to make sure whether the offset will be ok before I plop down a grand on rims and tires. A quick search on eBay for the Rota Grids show that there are 17x8 +35 5x100s available, but it's not listed under Rota's website for their Grid product line. I could simply ask, or go with a different offset that's listed on their website (40,45,48).

I should be ok with an offset of 35mm, yes? And if the shop somehow can't get them with that offset, is my next bet to grab the 40 or 45mm offset?

As for my setup, I don't know what the current offset on my rims (205/55/R16 tires on at the moment) are now, as the sticker has faded, and I'm not quite sure whether my suspension is lowered, although I do know they are the green TRD springs (not coilovers).

17x8 +35 with them tyres would fit absolutely fine. They would sit pretty good too, close to flush, but 'shouldn't' need to roll your guards. The higher the offset number you go the more sucked in they will look. So if you can get them in the +35 I think you would be pretty happy with how they look.

They won't be 'uber' flush, or pokey or stanced, but will fill out nicely.

Quick question, if people are using different types of 17x8 , 215/45/R17 +35 wheels on their ST205s, does that mean that any other brand of rims of the same size will fit as well? For example, if I got OZ rims of that size and they fit, then Volks or Rotas would be the same with no problems? Or does it depend on the style of the wheel?

Every 17x8+35 wheel will sit the same. Although some wheel designs curve their spokes outwards, making them look more flush than usuall. You will have to be more aware or scratching them with those types. Other types are concave etc.

But in the end, the edge of the lip of the rim, where the tyre sits, will be the exact same on the same sized wheels.

i have 16x8 et38 oz cronos with 15mm spacers. the fronts are flush to the guards, the rears can come out some more

without spacers in the rear my tyres rub against the struts (bc coilovers)

not with standard struts and 17 should be fine

theres something about 225/50/16 where the bulge in the sidewall hits the platform that the bottom locking ring sits on.

however, 215 will just barely clear it, 17"s move the bulge up out of the way, and 40-45 series tyres dont have enough sidewall to bulge out

17x8 et30 with a 45 sidewall tyre will the best all round spec

I run Rota Grids. 17X9 et30 with a stretched 225/45/17 tire. I wouldn't recommend this for a daily driver since you will rub with any bumper you might hit smile.gif

Thanks guys!

I think from all the info you guys have helped me with, I'm going to go head and order the rims & tires. The worst that could happen is that I'm going to have to pay a little extra to get some spacers in the rear.

Keep you posted!

post pics, love to see how they look on the car. personally i would go with 18s. my OZ rims are also 17x8 +35 (235/40 tires) , they look nice but i think 18s would suite the car better.

Previous tires & Wheels:
Again - 16x7 ET35
Bridgestone Blizzaks - 205/55/R16

New Setup:
Rota Grids - 17x8 ET35
General G-Max AS-03 - 215/45/R17

Rear (plenty of space):

Front (plenty of space):

The front is quite flush, the rear still sits in the wheel arch, so it could have used some spacers to bring it more flush with the body. I'm still happy with it though.
