Excellent work. That is such a frustrating weak spot for both the 7afe and 5sfe. Did you have a methodology for finding the right bolt? Because alot of users would like to find a suitable arp bolt for the 5sfe rods.

just like he said, measure the threads thickness, pitch and find a suitable bolt

The main difference between 5SFE bolts and 7AFE bolts is that the 5SFE bolts are more like studs, so they will probably not be available in anything other than the standard ARP alloy. (means no ARP2000)
I wonder if anyone has ever tried to tap a rod to use bolts instead of studs. -------------------- 1993 Celica GT Coupe - sold

A thread tap M8 size is too small for the 5S-FE rods. Already tried. M10 is too big and feels like it'll eat into the rod bearing area.
Will need to try M9x1.00 tap next. @OP: Do you know the exact thread pitch on these bolts? This post has been edited by Syaoran: Jan 19, 2014 - 6:49 PM -------------------- 1993 Celica GT Coupe - sold

4A series head studs will work... Just have to cut two of them down..... one front and one rear (the ones that go under the slave gears)
I have pix and info some ware , just need to find it. .. -------------------- |

Well update on the threadjack but, for 5sfe rods, a m9x1.0 tap is really tight in the oem rod studs. Will make a separate post.

If anyone is willing to donate two 7afe rod bolts for experimentation purposes which will be documented, let me know.
