im at a point right now where i have to make decision. my car has been out of comission due to lack of labels, inspection or even a owners title. right now im driving a p.o.s. 84 civic and it constanly gives me heating problems. it was only meant for a short use while i get things sorted out with the celi. but getting the celi's papers has been a complete hassle. ive been using the civic since last oct and its very uncomfortable. i need a change fast. im between keeping the celi and keep trying to find its papers or sell both the celi and the civic and get a more common ca7r like the 7gc. 6gc are a little uncommon where i live so finding a parts car is a drag. currently my celi has the projector headlights, jdm tails, raiser block, jdm power folding mirrors. it is a st model and the last thin i did was the rear disc conversion. any thoughts guys?

hard decision to make for you. It involves several variables.
1. if you sell / part out will you use that money towards purchase of a Daily? 2. If you part out, are you ready to feel frustrated, due to the lack of part demand, sure you will able to sell the mods, but will you ship a door to the mainland? 3. Will u be able to sell if you dont have documentation of the car? Give them headaches to new owner? or sell as is and take a hit in money? 4. Is the car on your way, so bad, you need the space, or its a financial problem, like making payments. 5. Are you that desperate? I can keep asking you questions, to see where u stand, and still the final decision will be yours. what parts do you need, cant get them from ebay? Have you tried your local yards, or even car-parts.com would you just get another celica, with a proper title, and have it shipped there? keep your car for parts. The most important thing, is how bad is the situation to even register the car with no title.. Parting a car is no easy, being in PR, all your big pieces will be a high cost to ship, since all will be airmail and youll be parting for months. trust me... in the end what do you want, if you can get the pieces you need will u keep it? -------------------- Learned a lot in 10 years... thing is is that the car has no papers whatsoever. the whole front is from another car. the parts car has been junked and it has no papers to register those parts to my car. and the owner of the parts car is missi.g. same thing goes for my actual car, no papers and the owner is nowhere to be found. so its a little frustrating at this point because the dmv is asking for a lot of papers and proofs and whatnot and without the cars papers seems impossible to achieve.

ok, so they want papers for the "parts of the parts-car"? are you serious, i mean those little vin numbers are in paper that can be just junked when the car got painted, not that they are stamped.
After hearing this, if i were in your situation i would cut my losses, then. because trying to convince the gub-mint that those parts are legit, will get u nowhere.. what you can do is just either get another car and sell this one for scraps, cuz i doubt youll be able to sell it, or get a 6gc from the mainland. there are plenty here, and at cheap prices from 800 as shells, to 4000 good running cars... -------------------- Learned a lot in 10 years... exactly, they want the papers from the parts car for the vin numbers or else i cant make the car legal for the street. off the subject for a second, the other day in the classified ads i saw someone post a 6gc for 1,400 and labeled it as a 1.6 gt4 model i felt like calling the owner and call him on his bogus ad

well you kinda shoot yourself in the foot by making this publicly known. Its not worth it, especially with insurance, and the feds, or even state government. IMHO its not worth it. You get caught, and it goes down the drain.

Can you not apply for a lost title?
Or can you apply for a salvaged/rebuild title? I assume since you pieced the together it was totaled so it pbly had the title destroyed. That's what happened to my '95. Someone bought it from the junk yard and repaired it. They applied for one and the DMV came out and inspected the vehicle to make sure it was safe. Afterwards they gave it a salvaged title. |

the car is not registered to.me and they are very picky when someone other than the owner applies for that documentation

hmm, whatever happened to the title? you never got it?
some states have a law, that states if the motor vehicle is left abandoned at someone else property for longer than 6 months, its considered yours. Dont know if such law applies to you. but its worth an angle, there are certain steps to be done. -------------------- Learned a lot in 10 years...
