Hey everyone, I've an audio nut, and live in my Gen 6.
With my 94 I'm running a ported Bassworx box with a pair of Polk 12" Subs, and Polk 6.5" components in the doors and rears. They sound amazing, however, the box is too big to fit between the strut towers, so it sits at the back of my trunk facing forward. I'm getting ready to install the rest of my stereo in my new 99, the head unit is already done, but I've got to add the bass. I'm considering a custom fiberglass box. So, I'm hoping others will read this and share what they've done in the rear hatch area for subs... Mostly I'd love to see photos of rear pods molded in the back corners, or solutions that allow for the spare tire to remain. I've even considered building a custom rear-strut brace/box that would be suspended like a wedge off the strut towers, and would isolate them as well. Similar to this: Or... I've even considered removing the seat back panels, gutting them, and building out a custom sub-enclosure that would be built in to the rear seat, then I could fold them down, if need be and they would point up at the ceiling but be out of the way. |

Do a slanted box that sits flush with the seats and is not that wide, so it fits in between the struts. How ofter do you have to get your spare out? Just build over it and when you fix the enclosure to the car so it's not moving around, do some type of fast release.
