Hi all,
Very new to the Celica. Just bought mine a week ago (65.000 km, 1995) Totally mint condition, original paint, shiny red car It is a bit of a confusing car though Serial/Chassis number starts with AT200, which should mean it is an ST, EU spec (it is a Belgian car, so makes sense) However it does have disk brakes all around It runs on factory 15 inch wheels It has fog lights It has power windows and central locking It has a very convincing GT badge on the bootlid And the "bad" news, it has a 7A-FE engine I understand that lights, windows and probably wheels could be added as options, but the brakes ? Question is, was there ever a special series with GT spec, but using the mechanical components of an ST? Don't misunderstand me, I did buy it as an ST and am very happy indeed with the car, just wondering... |

You probably have an ST that somebody converted with disk brakes and such.
There are lots of people who will convert the hubs/wheels on the ST so they have 15" wheels and 4 disk brakes. And used car dealers will be happy to let you believe it's a GT so they can ask more for it. Is there any 25th anniversary badging on the car? I believe those were outfitted with the GT features and the ST powertrain.

I believe all EU 6 gens have disc brakes all around... At least I haven't seen one with drum brakes here. Everything else you mentioned seems pretty basic for an EU ST, aside from the GT badge that some previous owner "pimped" on it... But be glad he didn't put something like VTEC on it

I'm a relative noob, and know next to nothing about 6 gens so far, but mine is an ST, UK-market car, and it's discs all round, fog lights, power windows, and central locking.
It was just verified by a government inspection last week as to it's documentation and spec, so... You have an ST. If it makes you feel any better, My mate bought a VW Corrado VR6 in 2001 but had more money than sense. When he came round to show it off, I asked him to pop the hood. Worryingly, he didn't know how. When we took a look at the engine bay, I asked him where the other 2 cylinders had gone. we were staring at a standard 4-pot golf engine. Yikes! So at worst, you're only missing 200cc. Bore it out, keep the GT badge |

I believe all EU 6 gens have disc brakes all around... This. I only found that out a few years ago when I saw a Euro ST. anixie, remove the GT badge and enjoy the car. Is what I thought. Was sold by the garage as an ST, so all good. I have in the mean time added 1000 km to its original mileage and love it to bits. . Such a pure and simple car when compared to the other household car (Skoda Superb 1.8 TSI, boosted to 210 bhp). KInda funny when I drove it at night first time. only the dashboard lights up... No ESP No ABS No other silly driver aids. Just me and the car. Soo, that big black lumbering Skoda (although a fantastic family car), now belongs to my wife. I'll drive the Celica, thank you |

Brand new to the forum here, and a brand new Gen 6 owner
Already did post one other question here, when i was searching for the true identity of my car. Found it in the mean time, its an ST Thanks for answering that nagging question Was for sale with 65.000 km on the clock which is suspiciously low for a 19 year old car. Asking price 5500 Euro (bit high for my taste) Offered 4000 for it and was accepted. It is a sale froma garage, so I get a 12 month warranty on top too Took it to a specialist place where they go through the car with a fine comb. Result, according to the technician it could pass as a new car. Mileage is original. Have in the mean time added 1000 km to it and still love it. Ok my head hits the sunroof... (my 6ft 4 figure doesnt help) but it drives like a charm. A real analogue car. No ABS, No traction control, no DSG box, ... nothing my previous daily driver (given to my wife now) all had, and guess what, I like it better , a lot better even. Mifght be the old man in me with about 1 million km under the buckle in 16 different caars, but this is the best of them all.. Hope to learn lots about this car on this forum. Not planning to do any mods at all, its just a too clean and straight car |

For an enthousiast car (which is turning into my daily driver real fast) I don't care about fuel consumption. I do care about my driving license though, so the current 116 hp will do me just fine thank you
Engine swaps are close to impossible in Belgium due to regulations, so it will stay stock. |

The major difference with the 7a-fe and 5s-fe is not in HP, its more in torque and where it is delivered. I dynoed my GT(A free spot opened at an event I went to so i thought what the hell) and my car dynoed at 117whp and 140ft lbs of torque. The only dyno I have seen for a ST put the power around 95 and the torque around 100. Regardless of the numbers the GT feels decently quicker around town due to its higher displacement and thus more low end torque. I have owned both cars(GT and ST) and regardless of what anyone "says" for a performance oriented daily the GT trumps the ST in all areas.

Wow! that's a beautiful car, you got a gem.
...and I am 6' and barely fit into this thing, I have the seat set way back like a gangsta lean. IDK how you fit into this thing at 6'4" but I did the same thing when I bought mine, dude handed me the keys and I got down into it like Oh Sheet this things small, but drove it around the block and knew I had to have it. which reminds me - who knows about seat mods? there's several inches of space below the seat bracket, if we could modify that to get just a couple more inches of head room it would be sweet! -------------------- Bust a Deal; Face the Wheel.

I 'fit" its just that I'm afraid that if I get in a wreck, even with the seat belt on I'm gonna slam m my head hard cause its so close to the headliner.
And sometimes my elbow gets a bit sore cause I'm reaching all the way to the wheel. -------------------- Bust a Deal; Face the Wheel.
