Exactly.. everyone says u will bend a rod you will break it go 4age stay away from 7a balh blah you know. i have been building 4age for some time now and see alot of things on the web are just repeated things of what people have never tried.. i did this because at gully garage here in florida we boost 30psi on stock honda single cam rods which are thinner so we said lets see what 7a rods hold.. honestly its very hard to bend rods unless water fills your cylinder and 7a rods arnt really that long..

Yea you tested an they held but how long was the test?
I mean do you think just because they held up to a couple dyno pulls that they will be OK forever? Not trying to fight with you Just trying to get a full understanding. -------------------- 95 gt coupe, v6 swap weekend toy

I thought they would hold that. they are thicker than 1ZZ rods and we have made around 350 on those. but you are pushing the envelop. i wouldnt run like that for too long.

Well it was torchered on the dyno for over 3 hrs and at one point we had to take off oil cap cause oil got so hot the psi dropped super low and thats was sae 50.. and yes the car was abused on an old tune.. the pistons are cp.. i dont know how much stock ringlands can take on 7afe piston but i have a friend in jamaica thats 500whp on stick rods but eventually spun a bearing racing alot
On another note when was the last time anyone has seen a bend rod from boost on any 4age? The most important thing i believe is oil, tuner and clearances done on all engine parts at the machine shop.. what im most trying to say is for all those who are scared to boost up to 15psi daily on 7age setups with stock rods its ok as long as arp renualt cleo 16,v rod bolts. installed for this low budget build Racing and 3hrs on dyno 3Hrs dyno torcher and street racing.. so far no bent rods or rod failure. But im just watching for bearings |
