I've been slowly building an emergency kit for my trunk.

Bought one of these at a local military surplus shop for $20, forget the brand, but I stashed it into the emergency car-jack area in the trunk

I have a cookie tin can filled with wind-proof matches, an emergency poncho (one that keeps thermal energy from escaping), wind-proof flint firestarter, 8-hr teapot candles

Some spare cloth bags from my work, as well as some thicker plastic bags.

Emergency blanket, roll of paper towels

Toolbox consisting of 10,12,17mm sockets, small & medium ratchets, scissors, duct tape, scotch tape, a few various screw-drivers, a mini-butane torch that uses BIC lighters for fuel,

Breaker bar, 1/2" torque wrench

Ah yes, and my snow brush, which I purchased a couple months ago, then regretted it since it snows here maybe once or twice a year, but it's snowed 3~4 inches over the past two nights (which is a lot for here). I was just hanging on to my east-coast life by purchasing/having this brush, and I wish I could advocate safe snow practices here for drivers, but I know that won't happen.

Touche!

Landslides and avalanches are quite frequent here during their respective seasons, which can lead to some dangerous highway action where the AAA or CAA won't be able to reach you. You never know when you'll have to Macgyver a fireplace out of hand tools covering a ball of paper towels you're trying to light up with a tea-pot candle and a flint rod while wearing a thermal poncho in a hole you dug out with a collapsible shovel meanwhile taking a poop in a spare plastic bag which you're going to place in the cloth bag to be courteous to the garbageman at the next opportunity where you'll be able to throw out the bag in a public trashcan.

I have a fire extinguisher mounted in the trunk, a bag that is reflective carrying a couple spare bulbs, jumper cables, breaker bar with my lugnut socket on it, small 3/8ths ratchet set, metric open ended wrench set, flashlight, gloves, multi-tool emergency blanket (for the winter) and my knee brace.

I also carry extra fluids like coolant, brake fluid, oil, washer fluid and a quick detailed in the summer. All fits into a nice carry tote that slides perfect under the ST205 rear strut bar.
