Hey guys. So as I was coming home yesterday on the highway, I started hearing a ticking sound coming from the engine.
Got home and looked up that it could have been the oil level and mine was low so I added oil. The ticking since stayed and now smoke is pouring out the tailpipe. Not sure where something is wrong. I just got a catback exhaust installed two daa ago but it wasn't having problems at all so I don't think it's that. Also read it could be a leak somewhere but i don't know why so much smoke would be given off for that.

It sounds like grave news unfortunately. There are a few tests you can run on it, but my guess would be that your motor has seen it's final days.

if you ran low on oil and its ticking/knocking, chances are you have damaged bearings and the engine needs to be rebuilt

It its pouring out the smoke, theres oil getting into the cylinders somehow. I would guess rings are done. Bearings could explain the noise, but not the smoke.

Start with the easiest first. You got a new exhaust installed, could be an exhaust leak. That wouldn't explain the smoke from the tailpipe though.

Then work your way to the big stuff (rings, bearings, etc.)
