I'm doing a group buy for the webcamshaft Performance grinds for our engine. You can choose ANY grind you want as long as it's from the 5sfe. I contacted them and they said they can cut a deal with me. If I can get 3+ buyers there'll be a 25% discount. If I can get 10+ buyers there'll be a 40% discount. Retail price is $816 which makes it $612 with 3+ buyers and $490 with 10+!!! Dirt cheap if I manage to get the 10 buyers. The process is pretty simple but time consuming.

Here's the website for the available grind. Click "PRODUCT SEARCH". http://www.webcamshafts.com/
For bolt on camshaft. I'd go for the 294 grind. It's bolt on.

The process will be:

You will pay for the discounted retail price along with a discount code that was given to me. I'll give the code out once we've reached 10 buyers. Also you'll be paying for the shipping to webcams. I'd suggest giving them a call about the group buy that's being grouped by "Ken Lee" which is me. Talk to Faith, she's the one I'm dealing with btw. I'd expect the cams to be away from you for at least a month. So if your car can't be down for that long, just go to your local junk yard and pull one out from any 5sfe so that's mr2, camry, celica, or rav4.

If you're interested please email me at lee-boi93@hotmail.com or comment below.

For those of you who thinks this is a scam or something you can call webcams at (951) 369-5144. They know me by Ken Lee and they know what I'm up to. Here's also my 6gc.net buyer/seller reputation. http://www.6gc.net/members/ILoveMySilly97/reputation

ok here's the pics.

the cams

and my nose

now the real info

now my motor has 156K miles on it and my compression was low, but consistant.

here's a comparison was another 5s, 1998 51K miles on it

and some #s info

and the INFO

my 5s topped out at 123whp and 126ft/lbs of torque.

on the 1998 stock 5s (intake) at 4700 RPMs it doesn't make any more power, it drops hp like a rock. My 1995 156K 5s continues to make hp. I peaked out close to redline and CONTINUED TO MAKE POWER until then. So at redline (about 6000 RPMs) I had about 123hp while the stock had The stock 5s 103hp. As for torque, the 98 drops off at 4700 and mine continued hold out longer. I had 110ft/lbs of torque and the stock 98 had 92ft/lbs.

The bottom line is I didn't dyno my car before the cams were installed so I don't know exactly were I'm starting from. From the research I've done they seem to average around 105-110hp to the wheels. If my motor was in peak condition like the 98 then I have gained about 10hp to the wheels. The important thing here is my car now holds the power later in the RPM band and where any other stock 5s drops off, my car continues to make power, right to redline.

now when I turbo...

Here's another dyno sheet with intake and tuned.

Sorry won't cut it this time. Also I just remembered something kind of peculiar. The 5S-FE in the MR2 made 135hp throughout its life, even when the 6GC was reduced to 130hp. I suppose since it didn't undergo a model change in those years it stayed as it was.

That's ok, maybe you can regrind some 7M-GTE cams instead then. Or maybe I should buy a car that I can just buy a cam for under $200 and call it a day, who knows. I sure as Hell don't.

Everyone should shave their heads while they're at it, there needs to be more compression in the world.

im pretty sure the 5S-FE did NOT come in any pickups. those were 22R engines.

that all has to do with header design and intake manifold differences. Its just like how the 2ZZ in the celica made more power than the 2ZZ in the Matrix or corolla XRS

Yah, like how the ST became even more anemic in '96. We had been talking about how the 5GC had more aggressive cams at another time.

I'm in but I am currently away at school and my car. I will be back no later than may 14 and no sooner than may 10. Will I still be able to do this? Or am I going to have to ask a friend to do it for me?

Also a guide to removing would be very helpful.
Along with some info on cheap stuff to replace while I'm in there and what needs to be checked out to ensure the engine will run for as long as possible.

I'm not planning on closing the group buy until mid to late may so you still have time. Just PM if you have money and cams or waiting on both or one or the other. So I can put you on a waiting list or the ready list.

http://www.turboninjas.com/camry/eg1.pdf

valve clearance - page EG1–13
remove camshaft - page EG1-50

Also I recommend to download that .pdf file. It'll be helpful in the long run.

UPDATE: I have 10 interested people. 4 READY and 6 interested. Post won't be closed down until I have at least 10 READY. Would like to get this together by the end of may so we all can receive the cams during summer and be able to work on our swap.

Spare cams are easy to find at your local junkyard. Theres plenty of camrys out in the streets and junks. Lol. If anyone needs help getting some I can always help with reimbursement. Ill add you on the waiting list until you get the cams. Then I'll put you on the ready list.

$490 is a pretty good price. I'd recommend going for the 101 grind with 1zz buckets and 2jz crower valve springs. You can get a set of cheap buckets from a junkyard head and give the head to your local machine shop to have it "calibrated" for less work and cost than what it is getting them new most likely.

This is very very tempting... but I can't afford this right now sadly frown.gif
