Bought mine on February 2012 45min away in Fresno. Previously owned by the 6gc username of howie_vang. Bought it for $4500 at 175k miles. It was a little riced out with stickers but now its better in my hands. This is my first car not counting the 01 eclipse gt I had for a week before I sold it to my in law. Lol. Im really attached to her because I put so much money and sweat. She's like my baby. Lol. I still got many more plans for her and many more years to spend with her.

My dad bought it for me about 5 years ago. He called me and it was a huge surprise since I've always wanted one. He picked it up for $850. I fixed the major things, and just drove it for 2 years. Eventually my interest returned and I'm slowly making it a much better car. It gets on my nerves a lot, but I love my Celica to death and will never sell it.

Saw it up for sale online, a 5-speed 94 GT with pretty much everything except for leather seats (which I hate anyways), drove across town to look at it and take it for a test drive and loved it. Went home and talked to my dad about it and he said if I want it then go for it. Called the guy back up and made him an offer and told him I would come make a deposit on it that night. Drove all the way across town again to do that. Drove once more and picked her up the night after. She's my second car, my first being a 2001 Chevy Malibu tongue.gif

Yup, that's right.

This is the night I picked her up

And how she sits in the summer

I bought mine in the summer of 2012 after I did this with my VW Golf mkIV

I have always liked the 6gen Celica and I gave it a go. Unfortunately I needed the car desperately, I waited almost 6 months if a GT were to show up on our market, so I was forced to buy an ST. But I regret nothing.

I was looking for an Integra but a friend said try a Celica, saw one in the local car sale magazine, went to have a look....drove away in it smile.gif . Ten years later I have only just got rid of it to a scrap yard due to lots of rust....... but I have another which will hopefully be in my possession even longer.

My dad has gone through a lot of cars and a lot of them where Toyotas - 4Runner, Land Cruiser, Corolla, MR2 MK2... so we added another Yota to the family. Probably the cheapest, sporty, good looking model. I had an eye on the Paseo, but that did not last long. I wanted a 7th gen too, but the price was a bit out of the budget at that moment.

I way as always obsessed with Celicas, but my first car was a tiny Mazda 121 that I got as a Christmas present smile.gif

I had if for about 2 years until I managed to flip it on a really bad road

It was a sad day to see my first car go but I got the choice to buy myself the car I've always wanted
I searched around and saw a few before I found the perfect one and went off and bought it smile.gif

My 94 ST was a Craigslist find outside of Minneapolis, 7 years ago almost exactly. It had 234,000 "mostly highway miles". It had minimal rust and drove perfectly.
I paid $1500 for it, and it's still my daily driver with almost 302,000 on it. Amazing car.

I got my 95 gt last year in march daily driver. Found it in craigslist bougth it for $1400 at only 179k miles not perfect but it ran. In October engine passed away >_> got another 5fse whole job and engine only $950 great job runs strong no problems engine wise. I like it fun to drive economic I think it looks better than the civics or acuras.
Still debating if I should fix it up like some celicas in here.

Had been looking for my first car for a while back in 2012, I needed a reliable and cheap runabout for my final year of school.
I test drove a 1996 Mitsubishi Lancer, A 1995 Honda Prelude and a 1992 Hyundai Coupe. All had merits, but none felt right...
I spotted the Celica in a local dealer (literally 5 mins from my house) and got on the net to find her. She ticked all the boxes, 4cyl, low Kms for her age (139000km), coupe, straight, reliable, auto (at the time I wasn't legally allowed a manual) mechanically sound and looked good. My dad and I went down the next day and test drove her. As soon as we were driving I knew this was the car.
When we got there she has dents all over and a big scrape on the rear passenger quarter panel (I am sure this scrape is a factory option).
Anyway, we negotiated with the dealer and got the price to $7700 with a 12 month warranty and all the dent removed (They wouldn't touch the scrape though). I negotiated with my parents, they agreed to pay for the car as long as I became family taxi, I agreed.

Anyway, the warranty has paid for approximately $4000 worth of engine and transmission work, freeing up a fair but of cash for me to mod her. I also got reversed into and that quarter panel was completly repaired, so body wise I have no dents biggrin.gif
She has only ever once needed to be towed, and that was due to the 18 year old distributor exploding. Luckily I have free roadside assistance and towing for 10kms wink.gif

Anyway, most of my mods have been to tidy her up or enhance the appearance of the car. Many people have complimented my car thanks to the time and effort I have put in. I know she isn't fast, but that was never the point of her; she is a reliable and comfortable daily driver. I have driven her on a 1000km trip and she loved the highway drinking a tiny 6.8L/100km (35Mmpg) smile.gif
She sits like this now:

i bought my celica in May 2012. its the 3rd 6gc and 5th celica i have owned.

acquired it after i broke all 4 shocks on a honda civic while attempting to do some fancy stunts with a few friends.

i love my car because everytime i sit in it... it just feels right. the steering position, the seating position, the way the centre console wraps around a little. the way the seats hug and hold me in place as i do 60 round a street corner. the way the clutch hits the floor and the gears slot into place with that lil clunk noise. the way the sunvisors are a lil too short to actually keep the sun out of my eyes. the way the doors never stay open n hit me right in the shin every time im getting out damn the bitch.

plus... i paid for it so its mine lol

I bought my 94 Celica GT,. in March 2009,. it was around my 20 or 30th car

Here is what she looked like when I brought her home.

The back story, in 2000-2001 I was a Toyota New Car Sales Rep. I'd come from the home improvement industry where I was required to drive an American car, so I was driving a 97 Cutlass at the time.
I'd grown up in a GM family, but had always felt that Toyota and Honda made far superior vehicles. So I worked selling brand new toyota vehicles, and fell in love with the Gen 6 Celica, even though at the time I couldn't afford one.

Fast forward a couple of years, to 2009,. well I guess that is a bunch of years, and it was time to replace yet another GM product, my 98 Pontiac Grand Prix. So, after a day or two of looking I had realized that Celica's were now in my price range. So for about a month I kept looking over all the craigslist's in my state, and low and behold there it was.

I showed up for an ad stating that it was a 95 Celica GT,. clean title, runs and drives great $1800.

When I arrived it was obvious that it was in ok, to slightly rough condition, but at the time it only had 116k miles, so I came to a better price and paid the man. Later that day I was back with a friend, and drove it home. When I went to register it, I noticed the title actually said it's a 1994,. not a 1995,. like I had thought,. oh well,. oh, and it's a salvage title.

After driving it for around 100k miles, it was getting a little hard to keep on the road for my now 135 mile round trip daily commute, it was a hot summer day with no ac, and I decided it was time to start looking for a replacement DD. After looking for a few days, I found a 2000 Toyota Celica GT, it was an Auto, and the driver's door had been folded against the drivers fender and wouldn't close. The guy was asking just 1600,. so I said sure,. I'll take it for $1200,. and drove it home the next day.

What a giant piece of garbage, let me just say I hate the Gen 7 Celica... after fixing the door, and finding/replacing most of the plastic interior pieces, I threw it up for sale and took the first $2500 that came my way,. Well, I thought, maybe it's time to buy a commuter sized car.

So in March 2012, I bought a 1999 Toyota Solara V6 with a 5-speed manual,. something I had wanted since working at the Toyota dealership, it was the color and option package I wanted and it had a bad clutch so it was priced to sell at $2000,. so, I hooked up the trailer, and drove the 100 miles away to look at it,. it was in ok shape, so I offered them $1600,. and after they kicked it around for what seemed like forever, it was loaded up and on it's way back to the shop,...

All was ok,. it has ok power, and looks ok, but the Solara is a "REALLY BORING CAR",. so I decided to start looking again, and on day two of the prospecting, I found this,....

1999 Toyota Celica GT,. Manual,. 95k Miles., it was listed at $4200,. well there was no way I was paying that, but the pictures were awesome, so I set an appointment to go see it after work,. well I showed up and it was as nice in person as it looked online,. so I offered them $3000, and they said no thanks,. well we came to an amicable deal and I drove it away,.

So,. at this point I had (2) Gen 6 Celica,. 94 and a 99,.

Well, then last week, I was looking for some Toyota parts, and I found this,...

So,. I'm a Celica whore now,. and will be until I can afford to build a Supra MKIV,. at which point I will probably drop down to just two,. one V6 swapped,. and hopefully one GT-Four at some point.

I bought mine because I wanted a little brother for my Supra. I knew about 3S-GTE swaps since I have an All-Trac as well. Once I discovered the V6 swap ability, I just had to go down that path.

Bought mine back in 2005. Car was originally purchased in Hawaii and was shipped over to California because she loved it so much. She eventually bought a new car, fell out of love, and sold it to me. The rest is history.

Was looking for a second small car for my wife...

In the end I decided she cqn keep the big one (Skoda Superb) and I bought a '95 ST with 65.000 km on the counter. Pristine condition.
Since then I hardly ever drive in the big family saloon anymore... Even use the Celica for my daily commute.

This is how it looked when I picked it up, original paint and all

Hello, new to the forum and this is my first post. No better way to introduce myself than to explain how I got my 1st Celica and wound up on this site.

I had a 2001 Chevy Cavalier LS that I got a great deal on for about 4 years. It needed about $200 worth of parts and labor every year. I was fine with this because it was reliable, gas efficient, and had over 230k miles on it which was pretty cool for a Chevy. A couple months ago both CV joints went, the CD player, heat/AC did not work along with other small problems. Basically it was a running 'totaled' car. Poked around the internet and found the best offer for scrap. Tow truck came by, I pried off the hood emblem like I do with all my scrapped cars, and it was never seen again.

My girlfriend and I live and work together so for a couple months we used her car to get around. I kept my eyes and ears open. I was looking for a fun 2 door. Maybe a Prelude or Integra. I see plenty of them around here in Ohio, but not many for sale. Or for sale in my price range. On one of my daily scourings of Craigslist I came across a 1994 Celica ST hatchback. It was red, which I did not like much. But it looked to be in decent shape and had 153k miles. My girlfriends mom has a 1996 GT that I've always admired. The car was about an hour away and on a Sunday we went to look at it. The paint has a few spots where the clear coat is pealing on the driver side. Driver side tail light had a small hole in the lens, but all lights worked. The front seats were a little beat up, stained and torn. No driver side sun visor.(If you have one, let me know you can part with, let me know.) A little rust in the wheel wells. No hood emblem. It drove great, and everything worked aside from the CD player. The guy wanted $1k for it, I asked if he would take $900 and I drove it away that day.

Got home and bought a driver side tail light, hood emblem, and front seat covers on Ebay. Can't wait to do more work to it. The car has grown on me very fast and I don't even mind the color of it.
Here is a pic of it 5 minutes after I bought it.

Before my Celica I had a 1997 Nissan Maxima. Loved that car. Powerful and reliable. It had 230k but it got totaled on a rainy day due to a distracted driver.

I decided I wanted something small but fun to drive. Especially a I4 since gas prices were rising. I knew I wanted a 2-door. I was highly interested in a 7th gen GTS but it was out of my budget.

I came across my Celica on Craigslist. 95k Miles for $3500. Went for a test drive and I knew it was for me. There was no exterior damage. Interior was almost mint condition and it was a 5-speed, 5SFE.
