Well, the past 2 days looked like crap, but today... beautiful sunshine, just in time for the first day opening of Free Runs (actually $15.00, but ANY car/truck/motorcycle can run) at the Sacramento Raceway. Today was pretty mixed...some good, and somve very bad shiat. I cruise with 2 of my cousins, my brother-in-law, and a good friend to the strip... and a little fender bender along the way. My cousin in his 93 Teg rear-ends me at about 15-20 mph... Some scrapes on my rear bumper and some gashes, while his teg is rocked pretty hard... bent front crossmember, bent hood, scraped bumper, smashed headlight and corner light... I didn't even care much about my Celica (I care! I really do!)... I felt really bad for my cuz tho. Luckily... it was basically like an accident between brothers. I'll post picts on that later... for now... 1/4 mile runs.

I ran 2 runs. My first was a fairly decent 16.946 @ 81.798 mph with a .601 reaction time.
My second run was 16.784 @ 81.201 mph with a .700 reaction. Not too shabby, but it could have been better. I ran with a full interior minus spare tire and jack. My car weighed in at a very slim 2520 pounds with 1/2 tank of gas. If I would have rolled some lighter, smaller rims... I probably could have hit as low as 16.4... but cause I was rollin 17's... it was a bit slower. Anyways... pretty good overall. Exactly what I expected. My mods are, CAI, Exhaust, UD pulley, decently tuned SAFC, and Header. Pretty good... cuts about a second off of the stock times.

There were also a tons of EVO VIII's and WRX's there today. Nice looking, but all sub-par drivers. There was like only one WRX that broke 13's and every other one was in the mid-low 14 range. Pretty sad... I mean, they launched like little babies... There was also a riced out MR2 turbo that ran low 14's... not too shabby. And as for the so-called baddass... the Dodge Neon SR/T... well I watch both of his runs, the first was a dismal 15.6 and the second was also a dismal 15.3. Overrated I say!

On a side note, my Cousin's 93 Integra LS (CAI, DC Header, Skunk2 ECU, minor weight reduction) even after the accident managed a pair of 15.5 runs. Those were equilavent with my other cousin's (Teg boy's brother) runs of 15.7 and 15.6 in his 2002 Civic SI hatch (Hondata flashed ECU, Shortram intake). Now I hope you Celica GT guys don't start BSin about smokin Integra LS's with your Auto GT's... 15.5 with bolt-ons and a chip...hehe I still haven't heard of a 5sfe powered Celica do that with bolt-ons... On the other hand, when sitting in an MR2... the 5SFE just seems a little bit more powerful. My brother in-law's 91 MR2 n/a (Intake and exhaust) managed another 16.0 run and a very good 15.8 run. Not too shabby

Now for some fun. I know most of you have heard of the fabled LSVtec. Anyways, in stock trim, meaning stock B18B block and stock B18C1 head, when mated together, only run about a bit better, if not at par with stock B18C1's. Our friend cruised in a stock-trim LSVtec EG hatch and ran 15 flat... however, while we were there, there was another one of our buddies with an EG hatch with a fully built LSvtec (around 10K a redline), that ran a ridiculous 13.2 pass. I mean, I shiat in my pants. That was pretty impressive. No, no Nitrous/turbo, or anything of the sort on this one. ALL MOTOR.

Anyways, pretty fun day, minus the little accident. I'll post my timeslips later, cause i'm currently too lazy to go plug up my scanner.

Sounds like alot of fun.

My best is 16.4 I ran that 2 days after getting my 5-speed installed. Still learning how to drive the 5speed at the time.

Yeah... a lot more tricky to get a good launch with 145 ftlbs of torque as opposed to 115...;]

man i wish i had gotten real times on my car once i got everything running right

i use one of those performance meter things

said i ran a low 15, and after correcting it for my altitude(same altitude as LACR) it was like a 14.7 at 95mph

that was at 9psi i think, untuned, running rich.

wish i had real times tho. almost makes me want to put all the turbo stuff back on

Your car was faster than that! When I had the data acquisition on my car it was doing 15.80's and pulling 60 fts in the 1.38 range. That was in full prosolo trim. STS legal.

exactly why i wanted to get some real times, lol

i know that i used to go from 40-80 in less than 4 seconds

in about 45 seconds i could go from a dead stop till the speed limiter and back to zero

man i miss those days.

The worst part is, i pulled into the lot, and i saw it parked right behind me, and it was some short as girl got out.... i was like damn,.... just thougt i would share..

You're faster than that... I'm pretty sure. If you can get a good launch and run, @ 8-9psi the 7AFTE put like, 170ft lbs of torque and 170whp... so I would guesstimate at least high 14's with a good run... and yeah, you should have run it... I would have loved to see a timeslip for it.

i have a time slip for mid 16's with a blown turbo that wouldnt boost till 1/2 through 2nd, and even then, only 4psi

that was the only time i went to the track.

when i replaced the turbo, the pump went out, replaced that and it was xmas time, had to be with family, and right after xmas, the #2 cylinder died on me

Before you do the last thing:
Learn if she has a rich daddy who paid for the car,
if yes, have fun with her car for a while,
then dump her,
dont touch the car, its not its fault for beeing quick

good launch?

hows this for a good launch

i would power brake and launch at full boost, with less than 10ft of wheelspin(boith would spin, but the right wheel spun faster)

I didn't mean you're a bad driver... I just meant with those torque numbers on a FF car, getting a good launch would be somewhat a challenge for anyone... ;]

I think I'm gonna go back the end of this month or next. I've fixed the leak on my Header (2 crossed threaded studs) and my car seems just a bit more responsive. I gotta go again... I'll let you all know...

i kno you werent saying anything, lol

incase some people dont know, i have an AUTO ST.

car was very easy to drive and launch.

traction problems were only existant from the 1-2 shift because the boost would spike 2psi higher.

even then, that only happened on curving roads though, straigt line, no problems.
