So my Brother has(had) a nice phat 2001 Ram diesel with four-doors and dual rear wheels. Just made the last payment on it 2 months ago, and this weekend went to the summer Rockfest and it got stolen from a pay parking lot downtown.
Retard Police wouldn't even let him fill out a report because he didn't know the tag number (had just got new tags), then when he goes to the dmv on Monday and looks it up he goes back to the Police and they tell him he didn't really need the tag to file a report... mad.gif /smackdown
lucky the poor guy had kept his full coverage insurance on it. But this has got me thinking... cause I can see the edge of the bottom of my window trim is bent out like its had a slim-jim in the door before, and my driver window rocks a bit like one of the supports is broken.
but does anybody have any experience rigging some kind of a special kill switch you could hide up under the dash so that it wouldn't start unless you know where it is. mine has a factory Toyota thing that says security on the lower dash panel but IDK if it works

You have a variety of ways of doing this. The easiest way would be to wire in an on/off switch for the fuel pump and have it somewhere inconspicuous. That way the car still has power and will turn over and run for a few seconds, but then it'll die. If it's a manual a kill switch to the starter wouldn't do any good anyway since you could just pop start it. A good place to put the switch would be under the mirror switch in the door, I don't think anyone would check there. They will check around the dash and center console though.

Kill power to the coil or the ecu. There are some creative ways to do it. What if you rewired the starter solenoid to recieve power from the highbeams, so that you had to turn the highbeams on to use the starter.

I've been thinking about upgrading my cheap AEM alarm my own way (make my own alarm unit), with siren inside the cabin and car horn for outside noise. I don't think anyone here would steal a '97 Celica, but when I get a proper sound system, it might happen.

Good places for a killswitch I can think of:
- under the front ashtray (maybe there's room for a small switch)
- inside the rear ashtray (behind the arm rest)
- inside glovebox (a bit more obvious, but can be hidden quite good)
- under the dash (the most obvious, can be hidden, but probably the first place he'd look)

Killswitch on the starter would be a waste, just pop start it. ECU will be the first place a thief will look if the car doesn't run. Of course we're talking a 90's Toyota with very little following, I don't think anyone has anything to worry about. Maybe if it's a swapped car, that or they'll steal the cosmetic parts off your car if they're smart.

Switch on the power feed to the injectors. No fuel injection no start. If you cut ECU power you loose fuel trims. If you cut coil power the engine will get flooded with gas and even you won't be able to start it. OEM anti theft kills injector power feed. It's easy and safe.

Use a turbo timer idea to the injectors. Let it run for a minute if the car is already running, or set it for 5 seconds on start to make them piss

Or make life easy and do what I said? tongue.gif Kill the power to the pump and it'll use what fuel is in the line to run for a few seconds and then it'll sputter and die.

Under the mirror or window switch panel wouldn't be too bad, just have to pop it out and should be somewhere 99.9% of people would never think to look. Dash, center console, under the seat, etc... are all places to look immediately.
