I am looking to upgrade my stereo system and I plan on buying a double din touch screen head unit as well as two new sets of speakers (front and back).

Subwoofer capability is necessary, and I would like it to be relatively loud.

I have the 1994 gt coupe with no 8 speaker option.

I have been looking around and it seems like none of these radios are compatible with the iphone 5s without a separate cable.

At the moment the kenwood ddx470 seems like the best option with my budget (I would rather not spend more than $350 if possible

Any advice on what speakers to buy is also greatly appreciated, I can spend up to $200 for the set of four and am looking for good sound quality as well as loudness.
I need speakers that will not blow out if I am blasting the music.

Also, I have been looking around and the highest I have seen is a 22W preamp output for the speakers. does this mean I should invest in an amp as well?
I am not sure as I previously had a 99 vert with the 8 speaker set up and a single din head unit.

Any suggestions are welcome and appreciated, thank you.

Just purchased a double din pioneer for the ladies yaris.

She loves it, comes with alot of features, and bangs alot harder then her previous single din unit.

I would suggest bumping the budget up to about 240-260 - The ones in the 200 dollar range are just CD players, which all appear cheap.

I'm willing to spend up to $350 for the radio, the $200 part was referring to speakers.

switch to android. iphone problem solved lol to be honest if its just a head unit go for anything with bluetooth + USB on it.. and yeah you probably will need a seperate wire for your iphone (because they are ****) reason why i say any head unit will do is because you should power everything with amps. soooo mucb better!

if you want to do it on a budget i would highly recommend using Bassface. sound quality is excellent especially for the price. they are direct fit with no extra drilling or custom work. i have 2 8" subwoofers in the doors + 2 oem tweeters. 2 6.5" coaxials in the rear and a 15" sub (go for 12" i have no more boot space) in the boot. again... good sound quality.

be aware though. cheap speakers will produce cheap sound. i didnt have that problem with bassface. only reason i would recommend.

JVC, Kenwood and Alpine make some nice oem looking double dins.

I have the pioneer AVH-X4500bt, iphone ready, but have to buy an hdmi cable and a lightning to hdmi adapter, then you can pretty much take control of the phone through the touch screen, there are also apps, like Car browser that allows you to use the radio like a tablet and browse. Pretty neat
