34k For an Auto MK4? WTF.
and 40k For the Manual? Are the LHD TT manual supras really that rare? I know here in Canada you can have a JDM supra for under 20k without a doubt, most likely with less mileage than that as well. Probably a different case for the states however since the import laws are more strict -------------------- -Protection mode, For when your amp tries to blow its load. 1995 Toyota Celica GTS - Daily Driver 1999 Chevy Cavalier - Winter Beater 1994 Honda Civic CX Hatchback - Dead My Celica! |

USDM TT Supras were built differently than the rest of the world's. Oddly enough, Toyota shipped their best Supras here. $40k for a TT 6 speed is about average, but $32k for an auto is completely unreasonable unless is a built auto. JDM/RHD Supras aren't as desireable as USDM models so there's a huge price difference.

Man, the only thing I would want out of a Canadian spec MK4 would be the optional OEM seat heaters. Yum...Super rare from what I understand

There are some minor differences between the JDM and USDM Supras. If I recall correctly the USDM's actually have upgraded turbo's, a better fuel system, and a better mapping of the ecu to utilize those upgrades better. The JDM ones because of the "gentleman's" agreement are limited to 280HP due to this while the TT USDM puts out 320HP/300ftlb.
I'm sure Smaay can chime in here regarding the details a little better than I. As for the pricing the above (as well as the first F&F movie), as well as the aftermarket potential of the engine is why they are priced as they are and continue to hold their value even as 15+ year old cars. For a manual TT with under 150k miles you're looking at $20k+ If you're looking at a rare color on top of that (Royal Sapphire Pearl, Imperial Jade Mica, Quicksilver) you're looking around $40k pretty much regardless of the mileage, and with low miles asking price is anywhere from 25-50% more than the car was new. The one I want (RSP TT w/ stock black leather interior), I haven't seen listed for under $50k. Can count on one hand the number of cars produced in the last 20 years that have held their value as well or even appreciated in value as collectors, and the USDM manual TT Supra is one of them. ^^^ Those are the reasons I know of. After you go single turbo and EMS they're all essentially the same car, but the US-spec Supras are held in higher regards with higher price tags.
Also, I know of a '94 TT 6 speed RSP, black leather, rolling shell for $14k if you are interested. -------------------- "Employ your time in improving yourself by other men's writings, so that you shall gain easily what others labored hard for." -Socrates. I'd be I interested but for the fact that RSP came in factory form only in '97 and '98. :-) My whole thinking behind it is to get one that's mint and original with low miles, not only as my favorite car but as an investment. USDM had bigger cams, bigger turbos, bigger injectors (with resistor pack) and run off a MAF compared to the JDM that uses a MAP sensor.
Some of the later JDM NA SZ-R models came with the V161 transmission, which is pretty cool since we got shafted here in the states. BTW, if any of our Aussie guys can find me a series 2 analog clock from the MK4, for the cheap (<$150), I'd appreciate it. -------------------- -Alex {](O_o)[}
