"his revs almost to 7rpm mine just goes to 6rpm"
by this do you mean that the redline on the rpm gauge is different?? this could just be because somebody switched the gauge cluster out with one that was for a 3sge. doesn't necessarily mean the motor is different. if you're sure that it indeed has a 7afe. the 94 and 95 are both still OBD1 but the pins on the ECU may not be in the same places and may be a different computer. But if his is that much faster than yours I doubt it's just the computer. you could have a whole bunch of other issues effecting the performance of your motor. -------------------- Bust a Deal; Face the Wheel.

OBDI/II depends on US or elsewhere. Outside of the US wouldn't be OBD. I can't say about JDM/Euro 7A's but I know USDM 7A's redline at 5,800 and 6,300, so no chance of flirting with 7k.

Here's your main differences; 94-95 model vehicles are OBDI ready, this is the basics when it comes to our cars. 96+ vehicle models are OBDII ready which is US mandated for emissions testing. The differences between the two is that the OBDII ECUs are set up to run and manage the extra sensors that is required for emissions testing where as OBDI ECUs are missing the programming and circuitry to run those sensors.
To put it simply, if you live in a place where they plug your OBDII port into a computer come inspection time, it will fail if you do not have an OBDII ready motor and ECU with the extra sensors. Consider this most of all when looking at maybe dropping and OBDI ready engine into any 96+ model vehicle. As for the rev differences, if you mean the tachometer range is different, it could be that someone swapped in another 6gc tach. If they are both the same tach ranges yet one revs higher still, it could be that the 94-95 ECUs have a different rev limiter range programmed than the 96+, so not really much you can do unless you can change ECUs and are able to lose the OBDII functionality. For the power differences off the line, it could be a number of things, main one being engine maintenance over the years as our cars are almost 20 yrs old. -------------------- 1997 ST:Limitedly Green

not only that the 96+ is looking for a crank sensor signal that the 94-95 gets from inside the distributor. they will be a different signal.
