He probably won't come back. The third or fourth time when he dropped by he said how it'd be for his wife, and yesterday on the phone his wife had answered and I overheard her telling him, "You don't need no Firebird" as the phone was handed over. Then after turning the motor off he did the whole, "Well the trans will be $1,200 or so..." Then I was like, "Yeah if you took the car to a shop to do it but that'd be silly, just drop the trans and exchange it for $600." Funny he didn't say anything else after that. Then as he was getting into the truck he was going on about the interior and paint etc... and how much that was and then that's when I told him I have a gallon of PPG paint of the original colour. All of the trim is there, the Firebird logos and the Pontiac arrowhead are in the glovebox. All of the interior is there, yes the dash and door cards need refreshed and the seats and carpet replaced but that aside it's all in good shape. I wanted to be like, "It's a 36 year old car, let's see how good you loo...oh wait, nevermind..."

He thought I was a dumb kid that didn't know anything about cars or the car itself, I guarantee it. If he's been around cars forever then he knows a carbureted motor starting as fast as it did, the guy that owns it must know what the hell he's doing. That and pointing out it was the forward clutch frictions being packed too tight by the rebuilder that ruined the trans and then rattling off the engine specs put him in his place. I asked and he does own a shop so if he comes back with all the other price reduction b.s. I'll be like, "All you have to do is pay for parts and your employee's time, and I know now you're just wanting it to resell instead of doing it for your wife." I think if he showed up with $4,000 I wouldn't sell it to him just based on principle. I'll clean it up this weekend and get pictures of it for eBay and forums and if he drops by again I'll tell him it's online now for thousands to see and I'm waiting to see what they'll offer. $4,500 OBO seems cheeky, but I'll throw it onto eBay initially for that and see what kind of responses I get and adjust accordingly. Like I said, I know it needs a trans now but it's not like that trans is expensive or hard to find rebuilt...

Positive note the Miata performed flawlessly on its 400 mile trip to its new home. Even though technically I made money on it a second time, I'm going to miss it and I'd be lying if I said I didn't tear up right after they left... If it wasn't for this damned disease I'd have repaired it and gotten it a rebuilt title... Same thing will probably happen with the Firebird, if I had somewhere safe to pull the transmission and it wouldn't kill me to do all the work I'd just rebuild it myself with help of my stepdad and a rebuild book... Mainly it's a matter of somewhere safe to pull it and having a clean area for the rebuild, I'm sure my brother would help remove and reinstall the trans. From what I've read even an o.e. rebuild kit should hold for anything you'd drive on the street, so $80 for the ATP master kit and it'd be good again...

Yesterday evening I got some nice T10 amber LED's in the mail, went to install one in the position light and one in the side marker of the Celica. Somehow I forgot what socket was what and ended up twisting the drivers side turn signal and messed with it, realized it was wrong (its tight near the intake tube), then tried to put it back. THE BULB FELL OUT OF THE SOCKET INTO THE HOUSING OH **** NO. I was able to finally fish it out with some special tweezers I bought a long time ago and almost never use for anything at all.

Then I installed the LED's into the position light in the high beam bowl and the side marker, decided I like it in the side markers more and now my side markers are brighter than my turn signals.

Yeah, well he quickly learned he wasn't dealing with a damned fool. I could tell by his demeanor he wasn't very happy as he left, but I don't really care. I upheld my word and called him first as promised, which is a lot more than I can say about his character.

I always wanted to remove the side-markers on the Celica since the turn signal wraps around and satisfied the requirements of the law.

Side note, I hate when bs like that happens. Since the fibro I've gotten really good at dropping **** at the most inconvenient of times in the most irritating of ways.

One of my docs when I was younger and fibro was newer thought I had that because of my constant shoulder pain and tenderness. Nah, just all that school stress! I still get crazy sore when I'm cruising winding roads or something active and stressful using my arms though, like so tender I can't even be touched on the shoulders. Sucks but I still LOVE winding roads in the Celica.

Mine started with my rib cage and knees hurting once in awhile, then it was all of the time, and then eventually fibro set in and now there isn't a part of me that doesn't hurt to some degree. Keep an eye on it and if it shows signs of getting worse I'd get it checked out. Supposedly if it's caught soon enough and put under control you can keep it from getting worse. Which is what pisses me off so much with my doctors, compared to my mom I'm not so bad right now but it's only continuing to get worse as they drag their asses and spout bull**** on pain control meds. There's one other new medicine that's out now that's supposed to do wonders that's my last hope as far as fibro specific meds go, but it has to be done by a compounding pharmacy but supposedly it's cheaper than any of the others out there. Otherwise it's being stuck on muscle relaxers for mild relief at best and then waiting as the fibro gets worse until they decide it's a good time to start on morphine...

Nah, no other pain that's not abnormal and once I got out of school my shoulder pain got better on its own. It's just a stress thing thankfully, also that doc was a little bit of a quack I think.

Well that's good to hear, quack aside anyway.

I'm contemplating the Firebird again... I think I'll go ahead and clean it up and list it on eBay just to get an idea of what I could get, or if someone offers something really good and they seem to have good intentions I'll sell it. I really do miss having a manual despite it's the last thing I physically need, but emotionally and mentally it's something I need to do. I wish I could find one of the cheap manual transmissions people are talking about for Chevrolet motors since so many Chevrolet cars and trucks had them. Unless they're talking about ones for trucks that'd have a granny gear, in which case that wouldn't do me much good.

So cleaning didn't happen today, so maybe tomorrow. Then can throw it onto eBay I guess. Still not entirely sure as to what to do, but then again I never am.

Wide enough? Wall is gray so the color is funky. I need to paint that wall white and put some markings on it for measure and scale horizontal and vertical.

Clean , and detail it, thrown on ebay with a reserve of $3500 or $4000. Today I went to the wreckers and initially was looking for celica parts but actually found some nice Subaru parts.

What all needs to be done?

Just wash it again since I haven't done such since the trans went out. Still looks ok, just get the leaves and other stuff nature likes to leave on cars. Probably wipe the interior down since I haven't done that in a few months. More or less make it as presentable as possible while trying not to kill myself in the process.

I always do BIN with OBO and immediate deposit of $150 just to cover eBay fees and crap. It's how I sold the 3000GT, Coupe DeVille, and now the Miata. The Supras were local sales papers and the Celica was on eBay but ended up being sold to that kid after I decided on keeping it. So far eBay has been my best outlet and Craigslist has been nothing but frustration. Generally what happens with eBay is those with highest offers end up messaging back and forth and sell outside of eBay. Which is against rules because, "Then you're not safe blah blah bull****..." It's a lot safer than meeting up with some stranger off Craigslist, at least with eBay you know they're not entirely insane... Which that's how the Miata was sold, the guy that bought it was really nice and very happy to make a 800+ mile round trip to get it just so he can have a Miata again since his died on him. He wants to get it fixed real quick and drive it while he takes him time fixing up his BRG Edition.

That spread. tongue.gif The thing to do if it were me would be to grab two laser levels and then just set them up for each car.

Guess three would be better, but yeah. Set one for the beam height, then another on each side making your box of light. Just measure it out and set them up for each car. It's an idea anyway.
