Today this happened:

Was looking for a round shift knob and happened across this one for only $5 more than a plain solid coloured knob, so why the Hell not. tongue.gif

YES. I actually joked about finding some Moltres decals for it, but now I may have to.

Looked on eBay, Amazon, and RedBubble and really can't find much of anything. Anyhow finally remembered to condition all the seals on the Firebird today, so woo.

YUSSSSS!!

I'm bringing my Mazda in for the ignition switch recall tomorrow morning so last night I washed the interior a little bit so at least the guy working on it has a clean car to work in. I washed the seat belt, probably for the first time in the 18 years of the cars life, and lemme tell ya, it's a different shade of blue now! It doesn't retract any better (not that it wasn't retracting) but it feels much nicer and looks nicer. I used some Kaboom Foamtastic spray meant for showers to wash down the door panels, step panels, and the seat upholstery, leaves a nice bathroom cleaner scent in the car. Not super strong but clean smelling, I'm hoping it fades a little more as the car gets warmed up as it's a bit strong when you first open the door.

Probably, it was pretty dirty from winter, something got the carpet next to the floor mat SUPER dirty dark. I need some strong soap and soaking time to get that cleaned up if it'll even come up. I need to make a better floor mat or something, mine is a little narrow. I wonder if I can get some plastic sheet or rubbery material and just heat it with a heat gun into the shape of the foot well area?

Hmmm, should be able to find some rubber sheeting that you could cut to size and get to conform with some heat.

Everything I've found through a quick search is around $20 a foot off a 36" wide roll, might be better off buying some cheap floor mats from Wal-Mart and customizing them to work.

Went to buy the cold air intake I had saved but they're sold out now, figured would go ahead and get since I ordered a new serpentine belt and all the intake stuff has to come off to do that anyway. Plus the factory intake has to be the worst I've ever seen on any vehicle, much less a performance oriented car.

Got my dash cam in last night, ran it today while I was out for a thing. NOTHING HAPPENS IN THE VIDEO, just a heads up. Showing the quality of recording and audio only. I need the polarizing filter for it though.

Installed my carbon fiber gauge surround on my Subaru. Also straightened the steering wheel. Didn't get around to putting the shifter in but I did get the interior clean

So carbony. I've thought about taking some of the cheap GM plastic and covering it in carbon fiber but that's further down on the priority list at the moment.

Cleaned and conditioned the dash, have to be a freaking contortionist in order to reach it all. Think will look into the Invisible Glass Reach and Clean tool next time I'm at Hell-Mart since it's flat and pointed then has two microfiber bonnets to use, a fine one I could use on glass and a more textured one I could use on the dash cap.

today was New Tire Day for Ren. Was gonna celebrate last night, but with an open diff, all I was gonna get was one tire fire, so I didn't bother.

Giving these guys a try:
Continental ExtremeContact DW in a 275/40-17 size

hopefully they do well for a "Max Performance Summer" tire.

I hear they're boss in the rain and wet. Why not some Dunlop Z2? I have those on my Celica and not only do they ride nicely and quietly but they're pretty much glued to the road and incredibly predictable.

I would like to say I share your pain, but the Firebird has posi-traction so I can't. My brother with a Genesis Coupe 2.0T shares your pain though, if that helps.

I've heard really good things about the Continental Extremecontact DW's, supposedly the best out there in the price range. It's funny the Supra and Firebird have the same wheel diameter, you'll have to let me know how you like them. Some other tires I was considering are the Cooper Zeon RS3-S and Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval Indy 500. Then again if I could ever find a 17" set of rims in my bolt pattern that isn't what everyone else and their aunt already has...
