I believe that is correct. That's how I wired my 2 8ohm speakers into a single 4ohm load in the rear deck of my Mazda. I got some bigass 6x9's laugh.gif

QUOTE (Bitter @ Apr 16, 2016 - 6:13 PM) *
Those clips are easy to replace and better than threading the sheet metal because you can replace a stripped clip easily. If you have remaining loose clips just give them a tap with the hammer to re-tension them. You need some U type speed nuts, amazon sells them, ebay sells them, the local autoparts sells them. My advice is to just spend the $30 and get an assortment tray of the U type in threaded and sheet metal type because they are useful for everything everywhere all the time.

I suppose, but it having the wrong system is just I don't even know what's the deal there. The harness hasn't been messed with and it's a Delco speaker so it's not a past owner thing. I used some pliers to squeeze the clips back down and it worked out ok, when I go to remove the other side when replacing I know to catch the two top clips now. Will look into speed nuts on Amazon since I have Prime membership. Hopefully I can find some 6.5" subs that're SVC 2-ohm or DVC 4-ohm and are actually decent. Would really like to put in 8's but I don't want to cut into the car to do it.

Parts Express might have something good from TangBand. I'm running a pair of their 6x9's in my Mazda and they sound pretty good, very punchy.

http://www.parts-express.com/tang-band-w6-...peaker--264-919 That's probably about what you're looking for?
http://www.parts-express.com/tang-band-w6-...-4-ohm--264-954 That's probably over kill, that's more like what you'd see in that Supra pushing higher power.

I saw a few of their speakers and subs on eBay and Amazon, I was wondering about them since I hadn't heard of them before. So far I've found these that were recommended on LS1Tech: http://shop.doubledmods.com/WF6415DV-4-ohm...2-bazooka65.htm Then here are specs from Bazooka: https://www.southernaudioservices.com/BT602...e-Tube-P25.aspx

I'm not looking to rattle the car apart, just decent presence and reproduction. I don't listen to rap or other heavily bass boosted music, stuff like Depeche Mode and some J-pop is as bass heavy as it gets.

I'll go and find the full line of products from TangBand and see what they have to offer.

I hate when they don't list any specs besides ohm. It's like saying the car as a 2 liter engine and nothing else.

Yeah it's because they don't want to divulge specs on the speaker beyond what they supply for the bass tube since technically those woofers are for replacing what's in the tube. They seem to be a really popular drop in replacement over at LS1Tech and so far the only other 6-6.75" DVC 4-ohm or SVC 2-ohm woofers have been stuff like Pyle and Audiopipe...

Eh, just run your own amp for the rear stuff, you'll be much happier.

Is it run as two channels or a single channel? If it's a single then just get a decent mono block and you're good to go. They make some tiny class D now that make good power. If it's two channels then honestly because they're behind your head you really aren't going to hear stereo separation anyway so just wire two speakers as a single load and then run high xmax speakers and you'll be kickin and thumpin nicely.

http://www.amazon.com/Clarion-XC2110-Marin...=Clarion+XC2110

That would be a good match for those TangBand speakers.

It's 2-channels which is how I'd want to keep it since some music the bass pans around the stereo field. Normally it really wouldn't matter, but since they're there in the quarter panels they're close enough to me and far enough from each other you can tell. Which at the moment I'm just researching and compiling a list, between the 6.5" component set in the front doors, the 6.5" subwoofers in the quarter panels, then the 4" midwoofers and 1" tweeters in the hatch there's a lot of research to do. This was a lot easier with the Miata only having the two 6.5" door speakers. laugh.gif My mom's fiance that works for Mercedes gets a discount on Harman Kardon products so was going to see if that extended to Infinity and JBL since they're part of Harman now, if so that could possibly influence what I end up getting.

Ordered a small phoenix decal to put onto the panel between the tail lights, I couldn't take the lack of birds any longer.

Bought a set of Corvette 17x9.5 sawblades with practically new B.F. Goodrich Sport Comp-2 tires since I needed new tires anyway, and it didn't cost any more than a new set of tires for the stock 16x8's. Hard to beat that. tongue.gif

Yup, hopefully first and second gear will be useful now. tongue.gif Most people hate the sawblades for whatever reason but I like them, I think they'll match the car pretty well. Thinking about redoing the center in anthracite or black and leaving the lip polished. Once they arrive and are on I'll have to go out and get some pictures of the car.

the 5s will be pulled out the week after the wedding and IFO. My dealers license will come in handy for purchasing a wrecked vehicle for barely anything. Its like ohio is a graveyard for any type of toyota. Should be a blast because she wants to get dirty and help with it.

It's awesome that she wants to get involved like that. Does she have a fun vehicle for herself yet? If not might be something else for you guys to do.

Removed the sticker from the dealership the car was originally bought from. Some careful peeling, Liquid Wrench, and quick wax later it's like it was never there. Removed the baked Formula sticker from the headlight cover, not so much luck there as the adhesive had eaten into the paint... mad.gif

Trolled my facebook friends.

Posted up pictures of my Supra in my uncle's garage and captioned it: "Aaaannnnddd.....off to her new home she goes. She will be missed. frown.gif"

E'rybody thinks I sold the car cuz I was given an offer I couldn't refuse over the weekend. In actuality, she's just being tucked away for her general safety and also because Houston is about to become the next Atlantis.

Boy are some people mad at me..... lol
