They feel like they weigh as much as a Celica! I think those weird hinges are part of the reason.

I always figured the over engineered hinges were to keep the weight and size of the doors from ruining said hinges. What's funny to me is how big of a deal weight reduction is on the Lexus forums for the SC, I can understand if it's a swapped or turbo converted car with a 5/6-speed but the otherwise stock automatic cars it cracks me up. I'm up for weight reduction as much as the next person but when you start compromising day to day drivability on something that isn't track dedicated I don't get it.

My 80 dollar $240 o.e. GM water pump arrived, since that apparently wasn't enough it also has a new G.M. thermostat and housing/neck included that it wasn't supposed to have. Have to love multiple errors in your favour. laugh.gif

I know right, everyone is saying to take pictures and document the occasion. laugh.gif I'm still wondering what's the deal with the thermostat and neck, that's ok saves me more money.

The Lexus forums crack me up, its like high school all over. Game plan for sc is, manual swap, completely redo the power steering, I would like to bag it, but lets explain why. I live close to Cleveland and pot holes are unforgiving, I would like to raise my height on those stints of driving through those areas so I do not damage the front lip, or bottom out on everything. And occasional lay it flat if I decide to go to a show. Paint colors for the sc is either rsp, a midnight royal purple or a slick graphic color. Also liking the ideas of itbs.

I have already started the hunt to convert to black interior, found a guy who can completely rebuild my Gauge cluster and climate control.

Let me pay extra for a smooth quiet refined car and the scrape all the sound deadening off it, gut the interior, put in racing seats and drop it to the ground on the harshest coils I can buy.

I think even if I got coil-overs for the Firebird I'd only lower it an inch or so since the radiator scoop likes to scrape even at stock height, my brother's Genesis for example is too low for me since it tucks tire and likes to bottom out. Which personally I still like about an inch of gap between the top of the tire and the bottom of the fender/quarter wheel opening, so lowering springs usually do it for me aesthetically. If I bought a SC I'd really like it in Midnight Indigo Pearl or Royal Sapphire Pearl.

Finally swapped the Supra's NA fuel pump for a Whoabro 420LPH Hemp-friendly fuel pump. Still isn't the reason why my car died on me over the weekend, so that marks one more thing off of my to-do list. At least it'll be ready when my piggyback comes in next week.

Hemp friendly fuel pump, interesting. tongue.gif

So apparently JC Whitney on eBay has the microsuede dash cover for the lowest price and offers a 30 day satisfaction guarantee, so said why not and ordered one in charcoal. That and from all the pictures I found the Dash Designs brand conform nicely and are trimmed to look like they belong in the car whereas some cover too much or just overhang weird and look bad. Sure I'd rather put in a new(nice used '97-99) dashboard and dash cap but that's money I much rather put towards suspension.

It's the Willie Nelson edition of the Walbro 255.

After taking last night off from the Capri (Crapi) I now have the passenger side electrically connected except for actually hooking the wires to the fuse block and zip tying stuff out of the way. FINALLY.

Also, these Autopal are really bottom barrel lamps, Box have you seen photos of the Cibie!? WOW you need to get some. Autopal are fine for this old Crapi and much better than the sealed beam it had, but you'd gain so much more with your high wattage bulbs and the Cibie lamps. The photos I saw are down, but the cutoff is razor sharp with incredible focus and intensity along it and much better width. If you can get some I highly suggest you get them.

Cibie and Bosch lamps aren't made anymore, at least for 6"x4" and last I saw only the 7" round were still being made. Had they still been available that's what I would've gotten, though at this rate I'd only be interested in putting money towards making a HID setup.

Have I ever mentioned how much I just DESPISE when people use up my stuff without saying anything? Good thing I always gather everything I need ahead of time because apparently I'm out of thread sealant and gasket sealant which I need to do the waterpump installation... It's what I get for keeping things categorized and organized together, makes it easy for other people to find too...

they can still be bought/found. I might play around with the bulb seating a little to see if I can get more intensity along the horizontal.

I had searched and the Cibie ones were still shown somewhere on the Daniel Stern site, but it said they were out of stock as of a few years ago. Had searched by part number and nothing ever came up. If only I liked the '98-02 Camaro more since they have 9005/9006 housings so could just throw in 9011/9012 or would have ample room for projector and HID conversions. Too bad there's nothing you can do about the catfish look, unless you're Callaway and you make it even worse:

Email Daniel Stern, I think he has some stock or can still get some NOS ones. If not then he can get the Bosch ones which are also much better than the Autopal.

For what a pair of Cibie or Bosch headlamps would cost that's Mini D2S 4.0 projectors, what's there now is magnanimously better than stock and it'll hold me over until after I get suspension sorted and I feel like spending more on lighting. Provided I don't say screw it and leave the car as it is until I can buy a C5 Vette in cash since it'll take IRS to make me entirely happy.

I just don't think you'll have the depth to get projectors in there and aimed correctly and sealed from moisture. As awesome as they would be...
