That's the plan. Drive it till the wheels fall off.

That's a plan I'm clearly not familiar with. laugh.gif No actually if any car has that chance it's the Firebird, my only legitimate thing to bitch about is the solid axle but more often than not it's a non-issue. Except for Sunday on the 5th or 6th? 100 mile round trip I decided to have fun going up the mountain and on a tight 180º uphill turn the solid axle jumped a little since it couldn't conform to the road evenly, but the Auburn clutch LSD kept things fairly tame. If I could only change one thing about the car that'd be it, but I guess that's why they made Corvettes.

You're neither old enough nor bald enough for a Corvette yet. As far as I know.

25 and haven't lost the first strand of hair thankfully, I guess that rules out Corvettes then. I keep hoping someone will come up with a bolt-in IRS kit for the fourth gen that doesn't cost an arm and a leg, but it doesn't appear like that's going to happen. I guess it's a matter of making something that exceeds the performance of what's available for the solid axle out on road courses or autocross, which is where those F-body owners that care about handling are probably most concerned, while being competitively priced which is probably impossible.

I'd be more inclined to a 993, I just love them and outside of the 959 they're my first choice in a Porsche. Though I wouldn't be averted to a 996. I also like the second gen Viper GTS. I'm beginning to see a recurring trend with my vehicle preferences. laugh.gif

So based on all my recent trips I'm averaging 28-30 mpg using 93 octane, that's pretty impressive really. Yes that's exciting for me. laugh.gif

Just ordered some Red Line synthetic power steering fluid to finish replacing all the fluids that don't particularly need replaced for once. Everything will be synthetic except for the transmission and differential which still need mineral based due to the paper friction materials inside them. The Red Line should arrive Saturday so will do that then, I read a lot of good things about it in helping with feel and reducing boilover so I look forward to changing the fluid out.

Of course you'd rather a 993, as would I, but prices on those are stupid right now, and my second choice 964 is not far behind. The yolks are starting to drop rather hard. Salvage title 99s go for as low as 13.5 (I'm not that keen). The interior can be fixed with a steering wheel and knob replacement, I won't see the headlights from inside, and it'll still make the right noises.

Mazda driver side washer nozzle clogged completely up Friday morning on the way to work, popped it off at lunch and blew some **** out of it with the shop air, did the same to the other side too. Tested them a bunch at lunch, they were fine. After work I hit the washer again and nope, driver side is partly clogged again. In a fit of annoyance I bought a pair of fan spray washer nozzles and a check valve T fitting on Amazon for $18 that'll be here sometime next week. The fan nozzles are for a Ford Escape/Mazda Tribute and should give better coverage than just two little jets per nozzle, the check valve should give a higher spray pressure by forcing the pump to build some pressure before spray starts and should keep the nozzles from dribbling as much after spraying. Most modern nozzles have a check valve built into them, mine do not since this car is from last century.

And I thought the car was a little louder the past couple days, yep, the gasket between the mid pipe and muffler is falling apart, it wasn't the right gasket anyway, it was just whatever was on hand at the time a few years ago. I'll order the right one from a supplier and pay them cash, probably just run down to the nearest place at lunch Monday to get the gasket and work on it Tuesday, or if the driver doesn't mine handling cash I'll have them drop it off.

Wrong.

It has the single tail light though. tongue.gif

If it makes you feel better my washer nozzles are bleh, I'm not sure if they're even adjustable as they're just clipped into place onto the cowl trim. Seem to work ok enough. In other news the Red Line PS fluid arrived not long ago, so will get to that in a bit.

I'm sure there's a better nozzle out there for your car. Also I hope you're not using just straight water in there, if you are then youn need to add about 16 drops of bleach per gallon to prevent any bacterial growth, aerosolized washer fluid contaminated with bacteria can and does cause respiratory infections, especially in those with weakened immune systems or who are predisposed to respiratory or sinus issues. Even the +32 washer fluid lacks anything to inhibit bacterial growth, so add bleach to that one too.

There might be but I'd have to look into it, it's adequate though. Nah I'm using some SuperTech Winter washer fluid, that way I don't have to worry about it ever freezing and furking up anything in the system. I would say the purple colour didn't have any influence on my purchasing decision, but I'd be lying. Stagnant water just never seemed like a good idea to me, washer fluid is cheap and not really much more than distilled water so I've always used it.

Changed out the power steering fluid and it does seem like there's less effort needed, that and the Red Line is a nice pink so now all of my fluids are a different colour except for the brake and clutch fluid that're the same. Also found the time to wash the car which was desperately needed, looks much better. Was going to start clay barring and then polish and wax it, but apparently everything was somehow left at the old place so will have to remember to pick it up tomorrow.

Before doing any polish and clay work make sure the area you're working in is free of dust and dirt that could get stirred up onto the paint, wash the floors out and get some 22x22 furnace filters strapped to box fans to filter the dust out of the air. I assume it's clay soil down there, clay is amazing at turning to fine powder and marring up paint real bad in a hurry.

Also not a bad idea to lay down a clean drop cloth so when you drop your clay or microfiber it's not ruined.

It's concrete flooring with brick walls, it's a classy basement/garage. tongue.gif Actually will be trying this for claybarring:

Yep that's what it reminded me of, but since it's a mitt I can't drop it. Which is good since my hands like to rebel and drop stuff more often than they should.

Since I can't convince myself to spend $160 on the Rockford that's 150Wx2 @2-ohms when there's an $100 Pioneer that's 225Wx2 @2-ohms I started looking for a place that I could mount an amp that's 13.75"x8.5"x2.5" out of sight and then it hit, if I remove the useless 21 year old temporary tire I'd be too afraid to use anyway then there's plenty of room to mount and hide an amp. Just look at all this real estate:

Plus with the Pioneer I wouldn't have to depend on special wiring adapters for the speaker input and outputs. The fun part though is running and routing all of the wiring...
