But they have terrible headlights and are nigh impossible to retrofit.

Just off a quick search: http://shop.radioflyerinnovations.com/Bi-x...dlights-015.htm

If not those then I'm sure there's something out there by now that'd provide adequate lighting. You'd think someone would have an ECE style lamp that uses 9011 and 9012 bulbs as an easy and inexpensive upgrade, and they might but I haven't bothered looking into it. At any rate it'd be a small oversight to sort out.

Those are the very old and very poor Mini H1 projectors (now the most common $30 generic Bix projector), the "low beam" shot is just the high beam shot with a black block over the top half of the image. They're not very good projectors, poor width, lots of foreground, no hotspot to speak of, weak high beams.

It'll be some time before I get a C5, I'll look into options for ****s and giggles later. Speaking of ECE lamps though, you'd think they'd be available since I'm fairly sure the C5 was sold over in Europe but it's probably like any Euro Firebird and Camaro parts and they're impossible to find.

And plastic so high wattage bulbs are likely to damage the bowls.

Turns out I'm not entirely crazy but apparently the ECE lights aren't cheap at all, oddly enough they use two H4 bulbs per lamp and from what I found are made of metal and glass. A thread with some before/after I found real quick: http://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/c5-tec...lights-t84.html

Yet another head scratcher from GM, pretty decent lights for European cars but domestic cars be damned to cheap crappy plastic lights.

Looks like a single H4 per lamp, not two.

That makes more sense, misread the one post I found then. Is it just me or does it seem suspiciously like a standard 164mm lamp and a special adaptor to put it into the Vette housing... Makes me think you could get Hella lamps like what I have in the Firebird and then make some adaptor brackets and job done for much less than the $600 or so I've seen people want for the GM Euro lamps.

QUOTE (ClevelandGaint @ Mar 26, 2017 - 7:56 AM) *
Thanks for the info! Gives me options to think about. I'm completely in love with the SC. I sold it to a friend and I had to buy it back. Only vehicle out of my close to triple digits ownership of vehicles. It's a 93. Cost doesn't really matter to me for this car. I don't plan on selling it ever again. As far as cost coming into vette territory, if I found one I honestly liked I would go for it just to say I had one, but not keep for the long haul

QUOTE (Box @ Mar 16, 2017 - 2:39 AM) *
Did some looking around for no particular reason and there are kits to use the Z32 5-speed as well and I know they're a strong transmission, plus the the gear ratios of the Z33 6-speed aren't as well suited to a torquey V8 in my opinion. Ratios here for the Z32 and Z33 respectively:
1st: 3.214
2nd: 1.925
3rd: 1.302
4th: 1.000
5th: 0.752

1st: 3.794
2nd: 2.324
3rd: 1.624
4th: 1.271
5th: 1.000
6th: 0.794

As far as using the LSD out of a Supra TT your options are 3.266(manual cars) or 3.769(auto cars) on final drives, so to use the 6-speed and it not be entirely useless you'd need the 3.266 final drive. The 5-speed you could swing either way on the final ratio. For what it's worth the Firebird with the same wheel diameter as the SC has a 3.42 final ratio with the following gear ratios:
1st: 2.660
2nd: 1.780
3rd: 1.300
4th: 1.000
5th: 0.740
6th: 0.500

First gear and second gear I can light the 275/40-17 Sport COMP-2 tires on 9.5" wide rims up on command, sure the LT1 is torquier than a 1UZ(or LS1 for that matter) but not so much so that I would ever see the Z33 6-speed being a good match for the 1UZ. Personally I'd go with the Z32 transmission and 3.266 final ratio, especially in a '98-00 SC400 which has more grunt than the earlier non-VVTi cars. A non-VVTi car I'd probably run the Z32 trans with the 3.769 final ratio. Of course this is just my observations and thoughts on the situation. I noticed the Z32 ratios are very similar to the W58 and R154 where the Z33 is very similar to the V160.

3.26 rear end is from the JDM TT (LSD) and GS400/SC430 (open diff) rear end. USDM TT rear diff is 3.13.

Do you have the SC300 or the 400? A buddy of mine in Tulsa, OK has a W58 mounted up to his supercharged 1UZ in his SC400. He says it's pretty fun.

If you have the SC300 with the 2YayZ in it, you have a few options based on your budget and where you wanna go.

If you're ballin' on a budget and not looking to make power over 400hp/350ft-lb, the W58 with the 4.27 would be fun. Granted with that combination, you'll be at 4K RPMs at 80 in 5th gear. If you can source a 4.08 rear from a USDM '97-'98 NA, 5-spd SC300, or any JDM NA, you should be pretty solid.

If you have some extra room to spend (and within roughly the same budget), the CD009 (has about the same gear ratios as the V160/V161) from the '05+ 350z and G35 with the 3.26 rear end is a good combination as well or you can go with the R154 on the USDM TT Auto LSD 3.76 rear. Collins and I think a few other companies make a CD009/JZ adaptor kit.

If you're balling out of control, you can do the V160/V161 with either the 3.26 or 3.13 rear end. Only downside is that internal gears, synchros, input shafts, etc. have all been pretty much discontinued by Toyota. If you find someone sitting on some, expect to pay a fair bit. For about the same price-gouged prices, you can order billet gears that are being developed across the pound. I'm running a V160 + 3.26 open diff rear end (ONE TIRE FIRE!!) in the Poopra and my speedo reads about 2-3MPH faster than my actual GPS speed. Nothing some taller tires can't fix.

Another baller status transmission combo is the T56 transmission. Pairs decently well with the TT Auto rear, but ideally you want it more in the 4.XX, however, no one has really tested how strong the NA rear ends have been to see what their torque limits are before they shatter. I've seen TT 6-spd rear ends explode. Those were epic and awesome. Grannas Racing offers the full T56 swap with just about everything you need. Great thing about this is that rebuild parts are cheap and you can configure the transmission with just about whatever gearing you want and if you're really sh1tting money out on the daily, you can convert it to a PPG dog box tranny for about $15K. lol

Plenty of options out there. Really up to what you want.

More info on rear diffs can be had hurr!.

Put some ITBs on the Firebird, that and a CC503 cam... Would sound even more majestic than what it already does. Is it bad I want to do it more for the induction noise than the power gained? laugh.gif

Meh, close enough. laugh.gif

So in the process of moving I finally got the old set of Celica seats out of storage, of course the passenger and rear are useless with the driver side being ok. Thinking about test fitting into the Firebird and if feasible could always get a better front pair. The Firebird seats are actually pretty good in terms of thigh and midriff support, but there's no shoulder support whatsoever.
