His job takes him into fields and rougher terrains a lot so 4wd is pretty handy. His WRX did a lot for what it was but this will better. Plus he's just loved the new 4Runners ever since they came out.

Fair enough, sounds like a good enough reason to me. If I needed something for going into fields and rougher terrains my answer would be an Audi A5, rather that's right or wrong I wouldn't care because it has two doors with a manual and it's the only option remotely feasible to me. laugh.gif This is why I can't have kids because then my answer for that would be a Challenger SRT because it has two doors and a manual, but the back seat is big enough to carry people. laugh.gif I've tried liking vehicles beyond two door cars with manuals, but I'm just incredibly shallow in that regard I suppose. Like in all honesty I should've bought a SC400 because of my knee, but again I'm stubborn and bought a car that actually hurts me to drive instead.

Two doors and manual's can't solve all problems Box. Sometimes a little practicality is nice.

The Celica and Firebird are plenty practical though.

The Celica is pretty decent. I fit a 55" TV in mine just to prove my friends dad wrong. Still though it's nice to have extra doors and room and especially ground clearance.

So I had a revelation last night, not sure why I hadn't up until now but I decided to do some research on knee pain and clutches to see if there was something I could do about it. Found a few articles that made sense, which most said seating position but I already set my set per what racing instructors tell you; a little bend in your knee with the clutch fully depressed and your wrists just at the top of the steering wheel with your back against the seat. Which that alone helped a lot, especially with upper body pain I'd get from driving in general. So did some more digging and leg position and where you depress with your foot make a difference, sadly can't do anything about leg position since the seat is fixed but thankfully the seat bottom is angled up in the front which is where it needs to be. To make a long story short my depressing the clutch with the top of my foot and toes is part of the problem, I tested pushing it in like that as I normally do and then further down towards the middle of my foot and I could feel less movement in my knee with my fingers rested on it and I could feel my thighs doing more of the work that way. Well why didn't I do that to begin with, well the clutch pedal is really small and using the lower portion of my foot the top of my foot and toes are over the edge of the pedal and touch the pedal arm which isn't exactly comfortable. I need to look into finding a taller pedal or some kind of cover I guess so I can more comfortably use the middle-top of my foot.

Gah I feel old.

I used the bird for moving and it did really well. I don't feel a need for extra doors or room, but I get in and drive it and use it for groceries so even a Miata would work fine.

Haha except for it'd need to be a left foot and not a right one. tongue.gif Found this for Mustangs but even though being closer might help that's really not the issue: http://www.americanmuscle.com/clutch-pedal...ntion-9414.html I guess a throttle pedal is what I'll need since I need it to be longer and cover up the clutch pedal arm. Suppose will go and measure the pedal width so I know what will work.

You almost need something dead pedal sized...

Anyway, got a 99 Seville at work with a 3000 RPM idle, carb cleaner indicated air leak under the manifold. Odd cause aint **** down there. Pull the manifold up and find......

But Bitter, why would some coconut hair charcoal make the idle so high?

Ok Bitter, but what does Darth Vaders melted helmet have to do with a 3000 RPM idle?

I see the light, go toward the light!

Yep, mouse nest somehow caught alight and melted the manifold while the engine was running, manifold vacuum sucked the melted plastic inward and made a hole. How it caught fire, not sure. All I can guess is it burped out the backfire valve at the end of the manifold and caught the nest fixins on fire. The Norfstar engine manifold has a little flap door so when it burps it doesn't explode the manifold.

Really doesn't need to be wider, just longer so I'm not jamming my toes into the pedal arm. Though every car has a small clutch pedal for whatever reason.

Isn't that the starter next to the pile of burnt nest? Over time that material would've become incredibly dry from the engine heat and then all it'd take was a small spark off the starter and wooosh fire. That or actually whatever that is in the intake, knock sensor? if the wiring was chewed into that could've been the source. It looks like that's where the fire was strongest.

The knock sensor is a passive, like a microphone, no sparks there. Starter motor spark is possible but unlikely since it's a closed case starter motor.

It's a piezo that generates voltage, like a microphone. tongue.gif

Side note laptop fan died so it's not good for really much of anything now. 11 years old, was a good run.

I've got a laptop I'm not using at all, you want it? Pay shipping. It's older but in good shape. A dell something. I'll get the model, Win7 tho.

I like Windows 7 though. If it can do what I need it for, which is very minimal, it'd be greatly appreciated. I can send a gift through PayPal for shipping. I found a replacement fan for about $20 but the procedure to replace it is Hell since you have to completely disassemble the laptop in order to get to it, plus then you have to epoxy the old heatsink and the new fan together or you can spend $60 for a new heatsink/fan already together. Shame since otherwise it still works ok.

Let me get the model and make sure it's all working properly. I did a clean restore and then ran a ton of updates before I put it off to the side and haven't touched it since. It's a Core2Duo mobile I think, so possibly as old as your laptop.
http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/...1/configuration
That's it. Right now it's setup dual boot Xubuntu/Win7. I can shrink the Linux partition down and enlarge the Win7 partition and put it first on the GRUB menu. Leaving Xubuntu is a good idea since you can use it as a backdoor should Win7 get broke and won't boot, just boot Xubuntu and go and fix whatever Windows files or backup your files and do a clean install. Of course you can do whatever when you get it.

PM me a zipcode and I'll see what shipping will cost, power brick of course is included! If you want any pictures of it let me know, I don't see anything obviously wrong with it. I haven't used it for much besides running updates so I can't comment on how well it runs youtube or games or anything. I would highly suggest you dump the 1GB module and get a 2nd 2GB module or swap a good one from your current laptop so it's dual channel, of course I'm assuming this thing even runs dual channel memory.

All my programs and software run Windows, and I have two 2GB 800Mhz DDR2 RAM cards I can transfer. If everything works and there aren't major defects in the screen no reason to look a gift horse in the mouth. Will send a PM with the ZIP after posting this.

Ah ha I'd forgotten how frustrating working with Windows on older hardware is. Xubuntu is just so fluid and snappy and Windows is just....not. I guess if you don't know it doesn't bother you. laugh.gif

Anyway, 200GB of windows 7 ultimate. 15gb of backup in case **** hits the fan Xubuntu 16.04.1. Both updated to current. Going to see if I can get Windows running a little snappier, feels more sluggish than I remembered.

Hmmm I'll have to think and get back, can still use internet intermittently without it overheating.
