Once my VR4 sells that money will go straight to the swap. My color choice are a dark metallic grey with a lot of flame or pearls, dark purple to black pearl or go straight rsp with it. I'm still toying with different ideas. Just finished all the basic maintenance this morning on the SC.
Welp BC coilovers are ordered for the SC400. Interior is finished finally, just need my steering next. Next to decided the color i would like to paint it and then start prep for it. When you doing the manual conversion? ![]() Also nothing like almost blacking out in the shower, only to black out on your bed soaking wet instead. Thanks fibromyalgia. |

Hmmm, I think either a dark metallic grey of some sort or a pearl purple would look really nice on the SC.

Time to actually clay the car, only did the glass to test and break-in the clay mitt and then after that just had to call it a day.

Yum. Think I'm going to the bunkers this afternoon and will hit up there for dinner. Yardbird or Country burger, tough choice! -------------------- |

Between the two I'd say Yardbird, but I generally like poultry more than beef. Pretty diverse menu with lots of things that sound good, I'd have to plan ahead as indecisive as I am.

So thoughts for the day, the Eagle One clay mitt sucks. If a Meguiar's clay bar is 5/5 the mitt is like 2/5. This was on a car that had been clay barred recently too, no wonder they had stopped carrying them. I think the biggest issue is you can't get pressure on it being a mitt, that and since it was a microfiber mitt the clay surface wouldn't stay wet and you had to use way more detail spray. That said I tried Surf City Clayzilla since I needed detail spray anyway and it came with the kit, which it looks like a Nerf football cut in half then has a clay pad that Velcros to it. I was concerned you wouldn't get feel feedback but you do and you can hear it too, easy to hold and cleans well. Only thing is it's hard to get into tight spots or concave curves with it, but you can detach the pad for those if you must though generally you can get it if you angle it just right. I'd say it's a 4/5 compared to a Meguiar's clay bar in terms of cleaning, but it is significantly faster. Of course I was working a cleaner surface this time, but it was still much faster. No constant re-kneading and best of all if you happen to drop it just spray it with detail spray and wipe it off with a microfiber towel. It stays wet better than actual clay since the clay is on a soft foam backing. For a car that's been actually clay barred and and if you do it often enough to keep off heavy deposits I think it's good to use in lieu of a clay bar. Second thoughts, Mothers wax sucks. Used the Audi as a testing ground, the Mothers Synthetic against Turtle Wax Ice and then the Turtle Wax Ice against some Griot's Best in Show. The Mothers Synthetic was meh with good shine, but water beading was terrible. Turtle Wax Ice had better shine and really good water beading, lots of micro beads. The Griot's Best in Show also had great shine, it and the Turtle Wax were hard to distinguish in that regard actually, with really good water beading and micro beads but had more a little more water runoff than the Turtle Wax. Surprisingly though when water was poured onto it, prior was a rain simulation with water being sprinkled on, the water ran off considerably faster on the Turtle Wax. So ended up using the Turtle Wax Ice since it was easier to apply:

That clay cloth I bought a while back is pretty fantastic. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0091II8X8/ It mars my soft single stage black paint less than Mothers clay but takes stuff off nearly as well, but goes much much faster since I'm working a bigger area.

I had thought about getting a cloth before but now I'd be concerned about getting even pressure down in addition to needing to constantly apply detail spray. The Celica is single stage? The last car I knew of to have single stage from the factory was the NA6 Miata, odd the 7th gen would be single stage when the 6th gen had clear coat.

040 Toyota's, still to this day, are single stage. I don't know about any other color but 040 sucks when it's not maintained.

Heh, that's interesting. Single stage white is terrible, the Miata taught me that. Of course clear coat isn't that fantastic when it starts failing. I keep waiting for those coloured plastic cars we were all promised years ago. Then just sand it and polish it out as needed to keep it looking nice. No paint to scratch or peel, no metal to rust or dent. Actually I want to know why composite panels fell out of favour, 4th gen F-bodies and C4/C5 Vettes show they hold up just as well or better than metal. Actually the only body imperfections on the Firebird are in the metal hood and quarters...

Or the light of day, as soon as you take it outside it's gone to crap. My car was clean when I left yesterday afternoon, when I got home that night about 6 hours later it was filthy again. Bugs all over, pollen and dust like mad. I need to do a proper wash, clay, polish, glaze, wax but I'm lazy and want to wait till I have the good polisher I keep putting off. I want to actually fix some of the swirl and scratches in the paint, but not on the black car first. I'll do the Mazda first since it's a light blue color with clear and it's safer to work on and more tolerant and hides oops better.

It's why I can't buy a new car, because if I'm OCD about a 21 year old car with meh paint then a new car would be the death of me.

It's always ****ing something. ****ing dog ran out in front of the Genesis and the front bumper is fubared now. Left pieces of dog everywhere, it dragged itself off the road. Of course happened in the middle of bum**** nowhere so trying to find the stupid owner to hold them accountable was impossible. Insurance deductible is $500 so will just have to fix to the best of our ability for now until he can afford to replace with what he wants.

Well I have had an... interesting week...
We brought the Twins home last Saturday and within a day and a half Jayden had some form of reaction and turned tomato-red from head to waist and blotchy on his legs. After a call to the Special-Care Nursery we headed to the emergency department at Sutherland Hospital and were admitted to the wards at 2:30am. The suspected culprit was either the new tin of formula that we opened earlier that day, or the Ferro-Liquid (Iron Supplement) which we also began administering that day (Actually 15mins before the reaction started). After a few days of monitoring and tests coming back fins, the doctors decided to test out the Formula through a 3mL feed. This netted no reaction so we waited another 24hrs and tried the Ferro-Liquid. Again, nothing. After another 24hr wait, we tried the formula again, but this time a complete 100mL feed. And once again, no reaction. So after that we were discharged and back home. We have no idea what has caused the reaction :L And in terms of the Townhouse, only two things came back as an issue. One was no DA had ever been submitted for the Pergola and front Veranda roofing and the second, a little more problematic was that the storm water runoff from the pergola and veranda roof was not connected to the stormwater drain as required. So we renegotiated with the seller to drop a few $k off the price so we can rectify this to make it legal and they accepted. Key changeover is on the 12/07/17 and we shall begin moving in the following weekend. Some photos of the townhouse: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This post has been edited by rentaspace: Jun 9, 2017 - 10:13 AM -------------------- ![]() ------------------------------| White '94 Celica | Bought 11/05/12 | Sold 12/05/15 |------------------------------ |

Nice looking townhouse. As far as the allergic reaction goes he could have reacted to the detergent used to clean his clothes or a blanket etc..., may want to get hypoallergenic detergent to be safe.

Sucked 2oz of X66 top end cleaner into the engine via the PCV then pulled plugs (which were wet) and poured 1/2 ounce down the plug holes and loosely threaded the plugs in to slow evaporation. While sucking it in I found a small exhaust leak up front between the manifold and front pipe lol. That stuff smells noxious, not like seafoam at all either, totally different kind of stink. I'm gonna let it sit for about another 3 hours then clear it out by cranking with plugs out then once I'm sure it's purged I'll look and make sure, might need to use the mightyvac style pump to suck anything out of the piston dish, then plugs in and smoke show, which is why I want to do it at night so I don't disturb my neighbors cause I'm not a jerk.
![]() I'll probably do the Celica a piston soak just cause I've seen some good results on the 7G celica forums, the throttle body was spotless when I checked it when I bought it and there's no EGR so I'm not worried about intake/intake valve gunk. -------------------- |
