a while back, i contaced a guy that sells motor mount inserts on mr2oc, about making some for our 6th gens. i figured it would be a great upgrade for anyone who has a gt or a swap. i got the first set of inserts a few weeks ago and instaled them this past weekend. they fit great and a nice upgrade over the stock mounts. you notice a lot more throttle response, smoother clutch engagement, as well as shifting, and you feel more connected with the engine. it should also greatly reduce wheel hop and help with traction becuase the motor wont rock back and forth as much as it does with the stock mounts. the other cool thing is that they insert over your existing mounts, so if for some reason you ever want to take them out, you can.
here is a pic of them installed on my car. REAR MOUNT FRONT MOUNT finally... here is a pic of the rear motor mount that i filled myself about 1yr ago. it worked well at first, but as you can see it didnt last long last but not least, there is a really awesome Video review that an mr2 ower made about the mounts. i have to say that i pretty much agree with everything he said about them in the video. the install is a little bit different on our car then the mr2, but anyone with some basic tools can do the job. took me about 1-2hrs to do the whole thing. direct link to the video: http://www.lovehorsepower.com/Videos/MR2/M...nserts_NTSC.wmv link to the website that did the review: http://www.lovehorsepower.com/MR2_Docs/MotorMounts.htm link to the site/person that made these and will be selling them. all sales questions should be emailed to kirk: http://home.comcast.net/~kirkosaurus2/MR2_...ne_inserts.html This post has been edited by lagos: Aug 2, 2006 - 3:05 PM -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

QUOTE(nik @ Aug 2, 2006 - 3:52 PM) would these work on the st mounts? i dont think so. but if you have a pic of some ST mounts, post them and we can compare to make sure. these will fit any car with a GT transmission. kirk also makes mounts for the mr2, so if anyone has a swap with an mr2 tranny, im sure he can mix and match a motor mount set for you that will work (gt front, mr2 rear inserts). -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

i belive its 50bucks shipped.... but dont quote me on that. thats just what kirk was selling the mr2 mounts for. i know these were harder to make so i dont know if there will be any price different on those. ill try to ask him for sure next time i talk to him. but i would expect them to be in the same price range.

I'll stick with my ugly home made ones for now, but it's nice to know I have an option.

Hey Folks,
The price for the set is the same as the MR2 and Alltrac inserts, $50 shipped in the US. All info can be found on my urethane motor mount insert webpage: kirkosaurus.com From the looks of those ST mounts the GT inserts should fit. -kirk This post has been edited by kirkosaurus: Oct 12, 2016 - 8:10 AM -------------------- |

Mines are shot, vibrations like crazy, tons of wheel hope, hopeless jerking between shifting and annoying shimmy when accelerating in 1st and 2nd gear..
I'm sold, just ordered some -------------------- -Rémy 02 SiR, 08 250R |

What kind of condition do our stock ones need to be in? Mine are all still there just that the rubber isn't all one piece anymore.

Just a heads up, since the testing, fitting and varification was done just this week (thanks lagos!) it will probably be a few days until I get the first batch of these. That means they may not ship until early next week.
thanks, -kirk QUOTE(WannabeGT4 @ Aug 2, 2006 - 10:51 PM) What kind of condition do our stock ones need to be in? Even if the rubber is completely torn out the inserts will hold everything in place. -kirk -------------------- |

will you be making full inserts (ones where you cut/torch the oem out) and have a full polyurethane insert (like the prothanes for the SR20)

Ummmmm.....Hello! I need a couple of these.........Good job Lagos!
I'll be ordering these in short order. I was a bit skeptical while watching the video seeing as how they're inserts, but after seeing them fully installed I like the idea. This post has been edited by Fastbird: Aug 3, 2006 - 8:02 AM -------------------- |
