I always seem to be borrowing other peoples garage and tools to work on my celica. which isn't every other week but more like once a month. So im looking around and I see only crafstman only makes the all metric sets. im sure snap on does but for a whole lot more. this is for my garage and every once in a while use.
these are the two sets i've com across: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Craftsman-Industri...ols&vxp=mtr http://www.sears.com/craftsman-201-pc-all-...directType=SRDT however why is the industrial set with less pieces cost more?? ive read on other forums buy the older craftsman because the laser inscription on the sockets tend to fade over time, buy them used and piece together your tool set as you please. what are your suggestions. -------------------- Group buy to replicate Narrow E series transaxle parts

I've always found Craftsmen to be good when it comes to hand tools. Can't really beat the lifetime warranty.

how about any europe members can chime in. i looked on ebay uk for tool sets but only found mixed sets of sae and metric sizes. is there anywhere in the world that sells only metric 150+ count tool sets for an affordable price? -------------------- Group buy to replicate Narrow E series transaxle parts

with tools most of the time you get what you pay for. Yeah you might get a big ass air compressor for 75$ but it's going to have its issues, I've found that goes for everything even phillips and flat head screw drivers, I buy Kobalt, but I also need sae and metric, metric for my car, sae for pretty much everything else haha.

Oh yeah, I forgot about Kobalt. They're pretty good too, lots of innovative tools. Same with Crescent or K-Tools, but I don't think either make much of anything anymore.

kobalt or craftsman. Husky if you are in a pinch. If you have the money snap-on. anything else, cant comment on.

as a former mechanic i have a lot of every brand. obviously snap on, mac, matco, and cornwell are pretty good brands; top of the mark, but you pay for the service, as well as the name. on the other hand tools are a personal thing... it boils down to what works for you and what you can afford. i hate snap on ratchets (matco 88 tooth all the way). most of my sockets are craftsman. as for lower end brands i craftsman, cobalt, husky etc... they make nice tools. even pittsburgh tools from harbor freight have a life time warranty.
tool sets are ok, sometimes i dig out my old craftsman box set for a standard socket that i don't have in my regular set; however i like the pice as you go method. again all comes down to what you can afford and what feels good. check out craigslist and keep searching ebay. you can score big! best of luck! -------------------- |
