in the spirit of keeping this thing alive, and want to drive it to the fullest...
yesterday spend 3 hours dropping the subframe, to install a new steering rack... we will see how long this one lasts. all my problems started after a track day. the rear header probably cooked it, or it was my fault for not properly diagnosing the leak. DSCN1764  that subframe has to weigh at least 50 pounds... DSCN1763  -------------------- Learned a lot in 10 years... did not take many pictures out of this one, but the steering rack came out, and a new one (from a yard went in)
DSCN1765  of course i decided to update the hoses, as i reused old hoses.. Got some new ones from dealer top portion is from a Highlander and bottom portion from a celica DSCN1773  did the right thing.... DSCN1774  new hoses, and new thermostat, and other goodies. While the car was down. DSCN1772  the main thing is to swap to a compressor of a 1grfe, the one on the left, after a year and a half, i miss a/c DSCN1768  and of course remove all the unnecessary wiring that was left because i was lazy DSCN1771  had a lot of trouble to get the air out of the power steering system, but i found the vacuum leak, and it was fixed. The ps lines were flushed, air was removed, and the car was put back together and sent for alignment. it drives better now.. -------------------- Learned a lot in 10 years... Still love how clean the crinkle black on the valve covers just completes the look of the bay.
