Hi everyone. As the title states I'm looking to swap a 94 5FSE into a 98 body. The body on the 98 is excellent and its already setup as my AutoX car. The 94 has a good motor but the body is completely gone. Both are complete cars so I have full access to all parts and harnesses. The 98's motor is just about dead, the previous owner ran it without coolant for over 30 min and everything is off in terms of specs(it also sounds like an old truck) Now that the seasons over I want to move the good motor over until I can source a BEAMS or 3SGTE motor. Only main difference I've seen is the setup regarding the distributor. Has anyone came across this before and have an easy work around.

Do you intend to keep the 94 electronics or swap the 94 engine to the 98 electronics? If you swap the 94 into a 98 you can swap the intake manifold and timing covers and crank pulleys and distributor and it should run with the 98 wire harness and ecm, otherwise you need to bring the 94 intake manifold, wire harness, and ecm with you to the 98 body.

the 94 does not have a crank position sensor. You will have to change the oil pump on the 94 engine to accept the sensor.
other than that, just swap the engine, use all the 98 harness and electronics -------------------- 2001 Celica GT-S Turbo
