Are they pressed in or do they screw in?

first off, why on earth do you want to take them out. its not common for them to leak.

To machine the head and do a port and polish. And Im sure one was leaking. I want everything to be leak free when I put the head back in.

Where are the cam followers located on a 5sfe engine?

Can't you just lock two nuts against each other and use a wrench?

Heating down the tube with a heat gun would also probably help.

I thought they were threaded in at the bottom?

There is a special tool that u hammer in the tube and it expands inside and then u put a ratchet on it and it loosens up or u can put the 2 30mm nuts together like the earlier person stated and loosen them that way. These do leak from time to time. I just clean them up and put fipg and seal them.

i dont think FIPG seals them good enough. too much heat.

have a machine shop do a pressure test, that will tell you i they are leaking. and you dont need to remove them to do a P&P.

cam followers?

got them out!! they were a pain but they screw out I used the extra 30mm nuts I had together. I don't recommend using your good ones because they were ruined by the end of it. I tapped the ends of the tubes with the nuts in place with a mallet to free them up a bit.
