For those of us who were late at the game,
What were the differences between 94-96 prelift bumper and 96+ afterlift bumper? Is this the same as GT-4 front face? (pictures would be great) How do I know that I have a prelift or afterlift bumper: My car is 1996 ST hatchback. Thanks in advance. |

The facelift was in 1996, so the 94-95 Celicas are pre-facelift and 96-99 are facelift Celicas. The GT4 front end never got a facelift. The preface bumper has one large grille with 5 posts, where the facelift bumper has a smaller grille with extra vents where the fog lights (or sometimes black plastic panels) sit, and only 3 posts in the grille. The turn signals are a different shape and got clear lenses for the facelift bumper.
Pre-facelift: Facelift: In addition to the front bumper changes, facelift Celicas also got sideskirts and a revised spoiler, going from a two post design to a three post style. Other markets got different options for different facelifts, such as the projector headlights and updated taillights, which we always refer to as the JDM taillights. Really they are just facelifted tails, since there are JDM and Euro tails that look almost identical to ours, sans the red sidemarker. -------------------- "Employ your time in improving yourself by other men's writings, so that you shall gain easily what others labored hard for." -Socrates. As always many thanks Richee3 for your input and knowledge. It appears that I have a post facelift bumper, i.e, the second picture. I also have the 3 post spoiler as well.
Thank You |

And to add onto that. The first pic has the usdm fenders and the second pic has the jdm Fenders. You can tell by the location of the sidemarkers.

The fenders on the first pic are indeed USDM, the rest are just seen all around the globe, not to be called JDM.
