Has anybody had an experience with something like this? I know it be a variety of things but if you have any familiarity with this, could you please help me! The car drops down to about 100rpm and stays there, but it's completely fine at a stop on the road. I thought that it was because it was cold, but it seems to happen randomly because after various stops and re-ignitions it happens. I already tried turning up the rev thing on the motor so it could "rev at a higher rpm" but it still does it. And it's really annoying. Please help!

100rpm and its not stalling? Thats impressive lol

Clean your throttle body and IAC and make sure your EGR isn't stuck(clean the EGR too while its off the car) Clean all the stuff with throttle body cleaner, you'll need at least two cans. The EGR you can clean with oven cleaner or also engine degreaser and then go over it with some throttle body cleaner since its going to be the most gunked up of the three. Give it a tune up. And check for vacuum leaks.

I second the notion of checking the IACV and making sure the EGR valve isn't stuck open.

Yup I had this issue but not this drastic. Biggest change was with the EGR, mine was stuck open and it was choking my car with exhaust gas. Made my car run extremely rich. My fuel efficiency was so bad until I took it off and cleaned it.

If you have an OBDI car with no visual inspections I'd just remove it and use block-off plates, then splice the EGR temp sensor wiring together to keep the code from triggering. EGR does nothing but gunk up the top of the motor, funny how new cars don't have EGR anymore...

Would it raise engine temperatures a little? I took the top of my intake manifold off to clean it and it was filthy. Stupid EGR... How safe is an EGR delete?

All EGR does is reduce NOx emissions. For years engines didn't have them, the latest example I can think of is the 1.6 Miata from '90-93 which doesn't have an EGR system. Though it had been implemented as early as the mid 70's for a lot of vehicles. If you don't have emissions if it ever goes bad might as well remove it instead of spending an asinine amount of money to repair it. Just make sure you properly block things off.

I've seen faulty coolant temp sensors cause some bad idle problems with several Toyota models. The older setup has no check built in and takes the ECT sensor's reading as the gospel truth, even if IAT is 60F and the ECT says coolant temp is -20, it's going to run like it's -20.
