Thats how much it cost to reduce the gt4 rotors to size. Not to mention the cost of the rotor itself. How much did u pay...
And that add the fact i have to pay for gas to 2 trips to nashville... Lol. Nobody here does this... Sheesh man, you need some friends that are machinists. Something like that usually costs me a half rack.

What do you need to do exactly? Reduce thickness?

What do you need to do exactly? Reduce thickness? Diameter Reducing diameter would be a CNC job, unless your machinist feels like making a complicated, one-shot set of soft jaws to mount the rotor on a lathe, since you can't reliably mount a brake disc on a 3 or 4 jaw chuck. However, the problem with the CNC job comes with properly setting up the part in the working volume and indicating the part itself so the machine has a proper zero - that's a bitch and a half for relatively flat, circular parts. A set of custom soft jaws would still have to be made for the CNC, but less complicated than the lathe's soft jaws. We charge $50/hr of labor at my shop, so I could see why it'd be $50 per rotor - it's mostly setup time. -------------------- taking too long to mod since '09

yes i know, and understant, just had to bitch. I have had the rotors for over 2 years now. and also have supra rotors, and are OEM, and cant be drilled. i wont be buying more rotors anytime soon.

so my biggest concern, now is that i hate to waste the rotors for the GT4, and would really like the supra option.
does anyone know if there are hats specifically for the celica, any 2 piece rotors? -------------------- Learned a lot in 10 years... I hardly log in anymore, last login Today Sept 6 2019, and I was forced just to clarify a post. LOL

the 2 piece rotors that would fit are a few ( GT4, Supra non turbo, among the others on the updated list Tiga posted ) but they all share a common factor, cost, long term is a cheaper option but the initial investment is very high.
Racing brake has 2 piece for the supra non turbo, the hats are aluminum so easily drilled. the OEM supra disc you have can be drilled, you may just need to buy the right drill bit, this is something you can do at home with a drill press. The disc Tiga has, I drilled using a drill press and a bolt pattern changer wheel spacer, I bolted the 5x114.3 the the disc and used a punch to mark the center of the holes for the 5x100, then use the drill press with patience and oil for lubrication. granted the disc tiga has have aluminum hats, I did this first on cheap-o regular disc as a test, and it took a good amount of time per hole and I kept pouring little bits of oil to help lubricate the drill bit. -------------------- |

The oem supra rotors cannot be re-drilled as berto had pointed out to me (after he already purchased them) due to all of the service holes on the hat face

What i would like to find is a 5x100 hat and a supra rotor disc combo. That is easily serviceable. Came to conclusion gt4 rotors are no go. Since no easy way to replace them in case of damage. Car will be out for a while. I hate that the supra rotor is not cntric to our hub

You may be able to mix and match some hats and discs through DBA. I doubt the bolt pattern changes on the hats, but the diameter changes a bit. I'll look into it as well

Wait, so what's so wrong with the ST204 rotor? If you were going to a bigger diameter I could see the point, but you were having the ST205 reduced to work.

Ahhh, ok. I guess you changed calipers and such then. So that makes sense. Could always use brake pad shims.
