Hoping someone can help. I would like to create my own projector headlights, having seen a few threads here giving some nice instructions on how to do so. The hardest part I seem to be having is finding the lenses. I believe that I found some on Ebay, clear glass lenses. Are these the right way to go, or would anyone have any other suggestions?
For the Projectors, I am looking at one of the ones from DDM Tuning on this page...Projectors They also have HID kits that I believe I saw recommended elsewhere in the forums...HID Kits Any input or advice is definitely appreciated. Also, does anyone have the "how-to" that was originaly tied to this thread by Rayme? HOW TO: Projector conversion This post has been edited by kpatt: Mar 27, 2015 - 8:37 AM |

You could also check out The Retrofit Source for your projectors. From everything I've read the are really good quality and support is supposed to be phenomenal.

Not that it really matters, but those ebay lenses are acrylic glass, not glass like the JDM projectors.

I did a retrofit!
My thread for it is >HERE< Used Morimoto mini's from The Retrofit Source And plastic lenses similar to the ones you linked to on eBay (which will probably be your best bet) -------------------- 6gcHeroes:808hectortimmybatmandiegotigamak |

My thread for it is >HERE< Used Morimoto mini's from The Retrofit Source And plastic lenses similar to the ones you linked to on eBay (which will probably be your best bet) I actually had checked out TRS before I found DDM on another thread. Smkr3w, your thread is actually the whole reason I started looking at doing my own customized set lol. I had read your progress threads several times through before I ever posted this one. My concern regarding TRS though is that they seem to be a bit pricier than DDM. granted I am very familiar with the concept of "getting what you pay for", but I also need to be practical about it. The only lenses I have been able to find are $120 shipped, a bit more than the $50 I believe you found them for. So putting out a bit more from that end I need to trim a bit elsewhere in the purchase to keep it a more practical option than buying a set of JDMs. All totaled I am looking at $275 (counting shipping for all components) to do the projectors through DDM, and that's not counting any extras like the LED or the Angel eyes. When I start going above $300 I start questioning whether it's better to just buy the JDMS. Any thoughts? Thank you all for the great input so far. Not that it really matters, but those ebay lenses are acrylic glass, not glass like the JDM projectors. I know you express in your post that it doesn't really matter, but are there any differences at all between the 2 that I should be taking into consideration? On the sale listing they do state that the lenses have been UV coated and all, which if I remember correctly is an important piece when looking at installing the HIDs, right? |
