So my celi sweats horsepower... And a lot of it.. Last month i diagnosed the problem as leaking valve cover gasket and spark plug tube seals as well as a leaking oil pan gasket. I replaced the valve cover gasket, spark plug tube seals, and the pcv valve (broke while unplugging hoses). No more leaking valve cover gasket! I figured I could just live with the slow leak from the oil pan until I fix up my backup car. Then fast forward to a few weeks ago.. I get fired from my job and car started leaking oil out of a new place and rather heavily.. I go to check it out and see that the dirt shield thing on the passenger side or whatever that plastic thing underneath is called, and it is just gross... oil was leaking onto it and dripping on the ground from there.. And a lot of it.. So I take it home, take the wheel off for a good look at the side and holy s**t was it just drenched..
Been sending job apps in everywhere and waiting on a few potential employers to call back. Using the last of my money on Tabs because mine just expired and I don't want the police to remind me with more money... I'm worried about starting the oil pan gasket though.. Is it a pain to replace? Help me figure out what I took pics of? Also have some videos too if they can help. I hope I don't sound too dumb.. Still learning new things every day about this car! Thanks guys! Yea I don't think that is the oil pan gasket. Wouldn't be that high up.
I think you head cover is leaking, and possibly the seals for the cam gears, or even worse the oil pump. You may need to pull the engine to get it all figured out, but I suggest starting from the top and working your way down trying to find the cause. Lots of oil seals in that area. |

Yeah living on a dirt road can make things look pretty gross! So I conclude that the oil pan gasket, many seals, and the oil pump are the sources of my oil puddles I leave around. As dangerous as it is, I'm stuck driving it daily until my beater is safe to drive... Would I be better off pulling out the engine for this stuff? If that ends up being the case I might as well either rebuild it or 3sgte swap. Someone here is selling a 3rd gen for $350 and I'm itching to grab it.

there is no oil pan gasket, its a liquid seal that cures. Toyota uses stuff called FIPG. good RTV will work also.
