and thats a friend's motor He told me maybe i have an WRC edition motor with anti lag system is this true ? or its something else? can i install an after market BOV or no? Thanks This post has been edited by empite: Jun 20, 2015 - 11:33 AM |

QUOTE He told me maybe i have an WRC edition motor with anti lag system is this true ? or its something else? can i install an after market BOV or no? Yes its true. Its purposely disabled afaik. Yes you should be able to install an aftermarket BOV. |

welcome to my world. Yes that is a WRC engine. I took that anti-lag valve off and put a regular BOV in its place. I also plugged the end of those hard lines on the manifold.

Damn .... what do you mean Zaluss "disabled afaik" ?
Smaay can i have a pictures of the work you did on the after market BOV installation? and guys whats the difference between the real WRC anti lag when you leave the gas pedal starts "papapapapapapa" with this ? i know that anti lag frees the turbine every time you leave the gas pedal and returns the pressure where it was am i right on that? also i know that anti lag goes with launch control and the car starts like mother****er hahahahah |

The one you have is disabled unlike the one in the actual WRC car. Also unless you're doing exclusively track/rally racing and want to go through a turbo every few weekends, having anti-lag would not be a good thing.
When your foot comes off the gas with anti-lag enabled, the engine timing changes, it pushed fuel through the cylinder uncombusted, and with the air source (the pipes that just end) ignition happens in the exhaust manifold itself, right next to the turbo. This spins up the turbo while you are decelerating, and a lot of rally cars will see peak boost at this time. This allows for instant power after the turn is made in this case, and to be able to power out instead of waiting for the turbo to spin up again. On the other side anti-lag and launch control are two entirely different things as launch control is something that is available on non-turbo cars. That just basically pins your rpm at a specifies point (usually at the "X" intersection of maximum power to traction if it were a chart). The "explosions" or popping of the exhaust is again, unburned fuel igniting late as a result of your car pushing a ton of fuel while being pinned to what is usually, not peak RPM. So the car is adjusting the timing and a/f mixture here so it's ready as soon as you let off the brake to give you enough fuel. This post has been edited by cardshark525: Jun 21, 2015 - 3:46 PM |

Well in clear words you mean anti lag while you decelerating keeps the turbo high ? cause i hear lot of things about anti lag and im confused, i build the car for normal ride ,i mean not 700+ HP maybe 350-400 WHP not more atleast for now and for some track days for fun not rally or whatever.. so its good to enable the anti lag ? is the 3S ECU customizable ? or i need parallel after market ECU to edit this settings ? plus that i took a look on the wastegate and its not like the others i think to increase the pressure from the wastegate with tee its hard or unlikely |

the way the antilag works on the WRC, is the the valve allows fresh air to enter the manifold, that causes unburnt fuel to combust making your turbo spool up. So you are at full boost when you launch the car. From what I understand, this Anti lag valve is disabled and does not allow that air to get in the manifold.

Here is a useful aspect of the anti-lag manifold used in a different way than intended.... http://www.mr2oc.co.uk/forums/41/159029.html?start=14 "I do. However I'm just tempted to throw an EGT probe to monitor cylinders 2 and 3 (using the port on the cylinder 3 runner) as they're prone to running leaner than cylinders 1 and 4. TBH, even fitting the manifold with all the plugs blanked out seems wise, just so I can do things with them later if I wanted to. Besides, another safety net is always nice. Fitting a slightly upgraded turbo to a stock ECU will certainly mean watching AFRs carefully anyway as boost is slowly increased." This is usually an issue if you are running the stock top mount intercooler with the center feed intake manifold. This post has been edited by cardshark525: Jun 22, 2015 - 9:29 AM |
