I get a constant whine from the turbo that doesn't change pitch regardless of rpm or boost pressure. I think it may be a leak but I'm not sure.

is this sound normal??

view the video to hear it

strange turbo whistle

Thanks

Anton

Sounds like a bit of an exhaust leak. My truck was leaking just after the turbo where it bolts to the downpipe and it was whistling like that. Of course it was a diesel so was easy to see black smoke pouring out of the hole when i revved it up. Yours might be a little more difficult to pinpoint but try squirting soapy water on some of the joints before it heats up and you'll see it bubbling if you are leaking

thanks schmooot! I'll give it a try. I really need to pressure test the whole thing. I'm sure something is probably leaking.

I found my problem. I had a boost leak on one of my boost fittings, my brake vacuum line, or my power steering vacuum idle up switch. I repaired these issues and tightened my boost hose fittings and the noise went away. I'm very glad it wasn't my turbo giving out.
