Hey everyone, I am new to the site, and am looking for any info on turbocharging my 95 Celica convertible. I don't want to go crazy, just push around 9-10 psi. I had read an article on turbocharging the 5sfe using mostly 3s-gte factory turbo parts. But wasn't sure if that setup would work specifically in my car. I am at the research stage and am trying to get all the info I can!! Can my car handle to boost safely? Recommended setups? Any info or recommendations would be great...thanks in advance for the help!

Also, is it even a good idea to turbo a convertible? Will it be ok to handle the extra power?

Hey, I am wanting to do a turbo setup on my 95 gt Convertible using the factory 3s-gte parts. I was just wondering if anyone could help me out.....what do I do about tuning, or timing?? Do I need an engine management system? Or does it all just work due to using the 2 bar map sensor from the 3s-gte?? I just want to make sure it's done safely so I don't ruin my motor. Only plan to run about 8 psi. Can anyone help me??

all your answers are in the stickies, and a thread by myself and pressure2 I think everything you need to know will be answered through the stickies like smaay said. -------------------- It takes 8,460 bolts to assemble an automobile, and one nut to scatter it all over the road.

I have seen different info in different places. It was kind of confusing. But I think it seems like I should do a Greddy emanage and have it professionally dyno tuned. Does that sound right??

Please do not waste your time and money turbocharging the worthless 5sfe. Just swap in a 3sgte and enjoy a factory turbo engine that does not need piggbacks, standalones, tuning and a million other things to lighten your wallet and blow your motor up. We install GEN4 3sgte's in lots of Celica's and they drive beautifully just on stock boost (8-10 psi and 210 whp). The Celica does not have the traction for more power than that in the lower gears without a bunch of other upgrades. Keep it simple. Feel free to give us a call if you need help. Have a great day.

when I boosted my 5S-FE with a ST185 manifold and CT26 with a custom FMIC setup, i think i made 200 HP and about 180 something torque. that was with about 11psi. I was using an AEM FIC for management.
Then I upgraded to my 3MZ V6 and i wouldnt have it any other way. the GF has a 3rd gen in her car and i still prefer the V6 -------------------- 2001 Celica GT-S Turbo
