Hi, new to the forum and can not find all the info I need for the swap I'm about to do. I have an AT200 and am swapping a beams redop in. My questions mainly have to do with Motor mount placement and wiring differences. I want to know how different the mounts are from a series to s, and how different the wiring set up will be. I have a full engine, tranny, engine harness, Ecu, all the pumps, axels, knuckles including the brake booster and master cyl( though I doubt I will need them) and suspension all around. More items, basically a front clip... Anyone actually do this type of swap and can let me know what the mount issue is and how much wiring I will be re-routing? Thanks

Yeah, I read that article. Does explain some things regarding wiring, however I'm a little unclear of how much that thread applies to an At200... Am I the only one dumb enough to try this swap? Or does someone on here know what I'm about to go through. I specifically need info on where the s mounts are compared to my a series mounts, and if the rest of my harness will comply.
I'm going to need the gauge cluster for the Beams, and looking up the wiring for the swap isn't hard for me since I apprenticed at a Toyota and have some friends there. I would like to have this pass emissions though, so is there a piggyback or standalone Toyota drivers use to overcome this issue? Something similar to Hondata perhaps? |

I picked up my engine yesterday, and noticed they cut the wiring harness under the under hood fuse box. Does anyone have the wiring diagram for the BEAMS fuse box? Also, regarding the part numbers, here in Canada Toyota can't find anything regarding the Beams Red-top. None of the part numbers work, but I'm talking to a guy who specializes in JDM RHD swaps. I'll post my findings on the Canadian part numbers when I get them. In the meantime, anyone know off the top of their head if the upper timing cover on the 5S fits on the Beams? Thanks

You'll need a new driver's side mount, and you'll need to drill holes in your frame, but the spots are marked. If I'm not mistaken, the rear mount and driver's side mount are the same but front mount is different. Most people just replace all four mounts when swapping anyway, since it's easy to do with no motor in the bay. You'll just need mounts from a GT or GT-S, same mounts. I've always heard the mounts are different but kurt95gt told me he used ST mounts with his S54 and had no issues, so you might double check with him.
ST mounts ![]() GT mounts ![]() The wiring in my thread will apply to your ST. Pretty simple. Can you post pictures of where your wiring is cut? It's kind of common to cut the harness after the fuse box, since that's chassis harness and you won't be using it anyway. As long as the harness up to the fuse box is intact, you're good. The 5S timing cover will not fit the BEAMS because of the cam controller for VVT-i. You'd have to cut out around the controller, and it may fit after that but still may mount differently. The part numbers are the same worldwide, but most dealerships don't have access to the JDM parts catalog. Your best bet is to sign up for an account and get the diagrams on ToyoDIY. That's how I find all of my part numbers, cross compatibility, etc. You won't need most of the extras that came with your swap. All you'll really need is the engine, trans, axles, harness and ECU. The suspension that came with your swap is likely Superstrut and takes a lot of work to fit to a MacPherson-equipped car, and is problematic in comparison to MacPherson struts. It does handle better if you are willing to do the conversion. -------------------- "Employ your time in improving yourself by other men's writings, so that you shall gain easily what others labored hard for." -Socrates. If you have money to blow super strut is the way to go! When i hear super strut all i see is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ but it sure does handle nice... double edge sword

Thanks for the info richee3. The fuse box is in tact and cut right at the bottom of it, I will add the pic when I get home tonight. I've got the entire front suspension system for the superstrut, so wouldn't it bolt right up? I was hoping to just throw it all in subframe and all...

The extent of my knowledge on the Superstrut conversion is extremely limited. The subframe is the same, but the new steering rack is RHD and can't be used. There's a combination of inner and outer tie rod ends to use with your current steering rack that will work with the Superstrut. It will all bolt up eventually, using a combination of Superstrut bits and what you already have in your car. Other members can tell you a lot more, but there's a good deal of information in Enderswift's project thread.

So you're saying I can swap my rack over(obviously) but change the inner and outer tie rods to make it compatible with the superstrut setup? That thread was a little confusing... The first guy just swapped everything, and others needed to fabricate tie rods... It all seemed straight forward at first... I will wing it and see where it goes.
A question about extending the harness... Did you use all the same gauge of wire when you extended it or did you match the wire sizes? I got 16 gauge Primary wire but these look something like 18-22. |

Lol, yes I did that. The wiring harness is all extended. I can't believe the newb mistakes I made earlier... Learning experience for sure lol
![]() Just an FYI for ST swappers; The Throttle cables are not the same and hard to find(In Canada at least). I will have one in 2 weeks and it will be golden. This engine sounds mad and can not wait to test her out. I should start a build thread and post all the other mods I've done/ am doing. Thanks for your help everyone!
