My 1995 celica standard 2.2l is toast the bottom end is gone. I must have starved the engine of gas and blew it. With that said I need to put a new engine in and I am thinking a 3sgte or a beams is out of my price range. I can get a used motor from the pull it yourself yard for $200. so I was thinking a V6 would be best since I want it to be faster and have more HP. My question is what V6 should I use? And What should I take with it ie. tranny, axles, ecu ect.?
My car has a ODB1 if that makes a difference. lets say I can get any V6 1MZ ect. possable, what car is the best and what year should I look for. there is a Lexus with a Duel TB at the junk yard... Thanks for your input This post has been edited by doory100: Sep 24, 2015 - 4:09 PM -------------------- |

if its a dual TB then it is a VVT 1MZ. It will be mated to an auto trans and you cant defeat them so you will be stuck with a CEL.
I suggest pulling a 1MZ out of a 97 Camry. if you can find a manual, thats better, but an auto will work. the 97 ECU is the same between auto and manual. if you use your stock trans then you can use your axles. if you use the Camry trans you need to source axles and those are $$$$ read my threads on my swap and the swap i did in the ST. -------------------- 2001 Celica GT-S Turbo

So 97 is the motor I want or can I get a 1mz from a newer model and find the ECU later or will that not work. I plan on doing the swap in the spring and rebuilding the 1mz over the winter in my garage.

I need a list of parts that I will need for the swap? So far from the threads I have: fab wire harness, fab y pipe, flywheel ( but I'm not sure what from), engine mount, tachometer board, what am I missing?

dude, all your questions have been answered in my threads.
but engine wise, yes you can use a 2002 Solara 1MZ and use a 97 ECU. in my case, im using a 2005 Sienna 3MZ with a 97 ECU. I dont have VVT support, but im really not missing it. you have a few other options with fuel, you can find a 94 engine that uses a return style fuel system line the celica. then use 97 electronics. or you can convert the rails to return like I did on my setup at first. or, you can convert to returnless like I did for the ST swap and I eventually did in my car so i can pass SMOG. -------------------- 2001 Celica GT-S Turbo

I dont know if the Lexus ECU's have the ADJ1 pin. The Camry ECU is the same for either Auto or Manual and all you have to do is ground that pin if you are manual

use toyodiy to compare part numbers to see if it's the same ECU as the Camry.

I will have to check that out. Thanks guys.
Found it and there was a Camry in1997 that had this ecm. But there are a lot of different ecm's for that year. So I'm not positive. Smaay: Did your ecm have a big A/T sticker on it too? This post has been edited by doory100: Oct 6, 2015 - 10:46 AM -------------------- |

They look identical. Do you have a pic of the refab wire harness?
