I'm planning on swapping in a 4th gen 3sgte and want to know what's recommended to be swapped or replaced or repaired while the engine is still out? Is the waterpump interchangeable with the 5sfe? Should I replace the oil pump seal and pulley seal? I know they're a common leak on a 5sfe. Here's the list I've made talking to a friend of mine with a st184 4th gen swap.

Interchangeable with 2nd gen

Front main seal #90311A0005
Rear main seal #9008031073
Alternator belt #909160229377
Power steering #99363-70760-83
Cam seals #9031135040

Injector Seals – 2zzge - 9030107024

Timing Belt – 3rd gen - 13568-79105

Wire - Wiregap
Clutch Kit – SouthBend
Oil – 10w30
Spark Plug – NGK Iridium BKR7EIX

Looks like the water pump (16100-79225) was only used in the 4th gen 3S-GTE and all three variations of the BEAMS, so you may need to special order that from Lithia. I'd add a valve cover gasket and spark plug seals too. If you're going to replace the oil pump seals, you may as well just replace the pump so you know it's new. You'll more than likely need new front and rear motor mounts unless they've already been replaced. If you can find a set, it would be a good idea to have spare coil packs on hand but you won't immediately need them for the swap. I went ahead and replaced my radiator and axles during the swap but that's not necessary either. I know I'm missing some things but I'm at work and my brain isn't functioning properly. laugh.gif

Should I just keep the mounts rubber or go poly? I know on the AW, poly mounts were bad because it was too stiff and tore the mount itself off the weld.

Kirk inserts are definitely cheaper. For my own personal use, I intend to replace my mounts again and leave the Kirk mounts out. They won't crack the welds like the MR2 though. They just transmit a little more vibration than I like. That's just personal preference though.

I cant be positive on the 4th gen but 3rd gen does not like iridium plugs. Just a thought maybe to look into wink.gif

^^ Good call, I didn't even notice the spark plug selection. Stock plugs are BKR6EP8 or PK20R8, both are double tipped platinum plugs.

I'm going by what my buddy has been using in his 4th gen for 5 year . Lol. I'd take his word .

IMA see if my mounts are good or not. This is a "budget" swap. Lol

What smaay says is right. I ordered that outer casing from rockauto as well, which is same for all 3s motors. But if you wish to order complete water pump housing. You'll have to outsource.

i remember reading that somewhere too, but it was never confirmed. since you are going to a 4th gen, that would rule out the 5S pump anyways.

just get the one i posted the link to. its the newer style with the metal vaines. i have that pump in my 3rd gen swap, my all-trac and another 3rd gen engine i just built

Aight. My guess would be since it's in the 95 mr2 turbo parts catalog. Then the 95 mr2 turbo water pump gasket would fit also then.
