Hey everyone i'm new to this forun and currently starting having issues with my 97 Celica gt convertibles clutch!
I was driving last night and was at a stop light, everything was normal until i was turning right in first gear and tried shifting into second and it wouldn't go into gear at all! Now i'm assuming it's the clutch and wanted any possible info or advice on what else it could be and clutch recommendations. Thank you This post has been edited by 97Jacuzzi: Feb 6, 2016 - 4:34 AM |

First thing would be to look the slave cylinder. Does it activate whn you press pedal completely. How dark is your fluid. It should be the color of urine. Change fluid, then flush the slave and test. Old fluid tends not to donwell sometimes and ruins the slave.

The pedal feels somewhat soft but gets very firm/shaky when i press it all the way down. Also makes a slight grinding sound when i hold it down for more then a few seconds occasionally |

if you turn the car off can you shift through the gears fine? then start the car in neutral, can you get it into any gear? if not then im 90% sure a spring broke on the clutch disk. 10% sure the above advise is correct. it does happen but the disk breaking happens more.
now do you have a GT or ST? if its just a daily driver, just get an OEM clutch, they work and are the cheapest. if you have an ST, you can get a 2000+ GT-S clutch. its a slight upgrade and still cheap. -------------------- 2001 Celica GT-S Turbo

Yes i can shift thru the gears while the car is off. If i turn the car on while neutral that's when it has trouble getting into any gear pretty much. I've bled the clutch but it only helped a bit. It's my daily driver that i use for work and commute about 75 miles per day. So i need to try fixing this by monday 😱😒 Do you guys know about what price range a clutch should be around? Would a used clutch from the pick and pull even be worth it...Any other celica owners in the norcal area 😁 |
