I was wondering if anybody had enlarged there throttle body, I'm sure it would have to be custom because they don't make crap for our cars. And do throttle body spacers work or not.

talk to this guy about the thorttle body he stated that he can do it for our cars but it will take time , and if you need other custom parts lethim know

A throttle body diameter increase would help you slightly, unless you are planning to do other mods to the engine.

You might lose some low end torque, but increase up top. But those changes will be small.

Enlargement only comes into play when you start looking ro increasing power using engine mods like cams, turbo etc.

You can get throttle bodies for you car.

Check out http://www.twminduction.com.

Call them and see what there can do for you.

A trustworthy friend of mine saw a CRX SI dust a mustang GT(new body). The only mods the guy had were: Intake, exhaust, larger throttle body, and Nitrous. It would take more nos than a stock 1.6 could hold to take a GT. The only thing I could guess was taht the TB gave him a fair amount. Also, Why would it make you lose low end torque?

As I said, slightly.

The intake system is optimise for both low end torque and middle torque.

At idle and up to middle torque rpm range, the intake system have been design to keep aahigh flow into the intake manifold.

A slight increase in TB diameter might slightly lowered it. But maybe nothing significant.

I polished my TB... didnt make it ne bigger just had the metal poslished down completly smooth.. I also had this done to the intake manifold runners and I notice a decent gain from it.. not a huge gain but still worth takin it off and putting it back on for.

How much does that run for neverstop? Also, where would I find a place to do that. I doubt a body shop could.

I thought I read somewhere that you could use the throttle body off of another toyotasports car, I don't remember if it was from a N/A supra or turbo supra, or from the sc300. anyone else hear of dat.

I'm doubting it. You might could with some slight mods, but you would still only have so big of an opening in your intake manifold.

what about a throttle body spacer to help with the flow, maybe this could squeez a little more power out of the engine, and would be relatively cheap.

I did the TB myself the intake manifold costed me 80 once I had it off the car

what the heck is the point if enlarging the throttle body anyway? if you don't have a bigger intake manifold, you aren't going to get any more air into the car. and bigger intake manifolds don't give ANY performance to a non-turbo/sc car. none. especially not a little economy engine like the 7afe... for all that trouble you might get 1 or 2 HP. maybe.

that doesn't matter, the GT is still an economy engine. it's the F in the engine code that designates that.

not tryin to dis on you but that's not quite right... when you are buildin a N/A engine the most important thing is your air/fuel mixture and the more you can process through the engine the better... granted inlargering stuff on its own wont give you a whole hell of a lot but anding bigger injectors and increasing your duration will help termendously on a N/A vehicle

edit: even a 1 or 2 hp gain is still better than what you had before... and on N/A engine like other types there is accumative effect.... the more you do the bigger the gains
