I was looking at the how to articles and saw the one that explained how to do the 6" to 8" speaker conversion. I was wondering if anyone has done that and if so, did it help a lot. Give me some input please.

What are you going to use for midbass? Custom kicks with 51/2 or 61/2 paired with the 8's in the door would be pretty slick. But I woudln't just switch to 8's foregoing the mids.

I put 8" kickers in my doors and it sounds good. There is lots of bass but the overall sound quality goes down. I'm either just going to put 6 1/2's back in for the 8's or just add another set of speakers and keep them in.

I would definitely hold off on putting in 8's unless you add mids and highs elsewhere. If nothing else you could put in some tweeters; they help out a lot. I'm stickin w/ my junk in the trunk for now and who knows what ill decide on later.

Way to much work involved for what you get! I personally like Alpine Type R or infinity component systems, a little pricey but they are some of the best. Here is a link Crutchfield.com
Good luck in what ever you choose. ![]() William |

for what i know about the doors are 8" stock. I have the 8" midbass kicker resolutions in my car. Just find some nice 8" midbass speakers to put in there. If you were thinking of actual subs in the door then you'll need a freeair sub. If you need any help just write me an email or something.

Or you could just read my how to article for what you need on putting 8" subs in the doors.
I've just got Kicker Freeair in there, but they don't make them anymore, the new 8" Kickers are nice as well(SMB8 I think?). With the subs in the doors and tweeters in the mirrors(the little plastic triangle) it shouldn't sound too bad, once you fix all the rattle. There are just too many pieces that rattle, from the power window controls, to the door handles, to the mirrors, it's like one giant rattle. But if you take the time and do it right, it should sound pretty good. Also, the 8 speaker factory system had 2 speakers in the door. I've been trying to find the door pads from one so I can put 5.25 or 6.5(don't know what it came with since I don't have one) components up front to complete the sound stage. |

I believe if you go to that website they have 8" free air kickers for really cheap, but I'm not 100# sure. They look like my free air's but don't have much info on them. |

I dont know anything about speaker swapping or anything but. One of you said the quality went down. I have had two 94 celica gt's. The first one had just the six speakers two on panel two in back and the 2 tweakers up by the window. But my new one it had 8 four on panel two in back and two tweakers. And i noticed a big change in the quality, everyone who gets in my car thinks its better two, without my asking them they notice on their own. But as far as how i dont know, but quality i think is good
