Hello everyone, first post, love the site I am wondering how I would go about painting the interior panels a nice red color as this user has. I'm mostly concerned with painting the panel with the radio which I do know how to remove just not sure of the best way to make it a cool red color

The easiest and cheapest thing to do would be to use a paint for plastics like Krylon Fusion. As far as prepping goes you'll want to wash the pieces with some dish soap or general purpose degreaser as it'll remove the years of interior protectants that'll mess up the paint adhering, then lightly wet-sand with some 800-1,000 grit sandpaper and wash again with soap/degreaser and let them dry before painting. Krylon says you don't have to sand, but I find the light sanding to knock the sheen off helps by definitively removing all protectants as well as giving a fresher and rougher surface for the paint to grab.

I highly suggest using SEM Plastic and Leather prep cleaner prior to paint going on. https://www.amazon.com/SEM-38353-Plastic-Pr...z/dp/B00B3HXWFO Also when doing larger parts it's wise to do where you can avoid stuff falling into the wet paint.

In addition to the cleaner, I would use SEM plastic adhesion promoter before, then spray them using a plastic paint, or prime them then use any automotive paint if you want a custom colour. I used SEM adhesion promoter and SEM grey metallic bumper coater (made for plastic so no primer needed) and it held up very well for years while I had my car.

Degrease, scuff, degrease again, spray adhesion promoter, then paint.

Thanks guys I never thought I'd be able to make mine look like the one I copied.

Does anyone know what this little thingy does?

I tried to pull this panel out and paint it too but I couldn't seem to disconnect whatever that thing is

Most likely for an aftermarket alarm system.
