Well I think I have finally sussed out what gauges to get.
Autometer 2 1/16", Sport-Comp Series, Digital/Analogue, Electrical.
But, which ones?
Well I had a look at the Autometer web site and have decided to initial go for the following 3:
Air/Fuel Ratio;
Oil Pressure;
Water Temperature.
This seems ok to go in the Lo-tek 3 gauge pillar pod.
But what happens when you need another 3 gauges (Voltmeter; Boost/Vacuum; Fuel Pressure) later on...
Where you going to put them?

Anybody got some bright ideas?

Supra ones are not a perfect fit. They can be "adjusted" to fit with heat though... from what I've read. Think I am going to try the Supra pod sometime.

I'm going to do this in a couple of weeks, I'm installing a Water Temp, Oil Temp, and an Oil Pressure. They are black and digital, I got them for 30 bucks each on eBay, I think they will look slick in the dash! I'm just going to drill a 2" hole and sqeeze them in! I checked in back of it and it wont disrupt the airbag, the only thing is that the right vent will be disabled! I think it will look good! Anyone want pics after I complete this? smile.gif

94silverst, sounds like a cool idea. I would be interested in photos when you're done.

I'm looking at 4 other solutions:

1 - If I can find small enough gauges, make a custom panel and build them into the center console below the Radio/CD unit.

2 - Buy a triple gauge pod unit, modify it slightly so that sits on top the dash (above the center console).

3 - Make a custom panel and build them into the glove box.

4 - Make a custom frog-eye pod that sits on top the dash (above the speedo).

I am in the process of trying to make a new gauge cluster (there's a rough pic in my profile) and if I find this is possible then I'm also gonna put 3 other gauges underneath the radio. 2 1/16 inch gauges will fit if you cut into the trim below it slightly.

As for the cluster, I'm trying to figure out if it will be feasible to keep all of the warning lights (check engine, low fuel, turm signals, etc.) and work them into a setup with aftermarket gauges. If I can make something that plugs in without cutting the wires, then I think I'm gonna try to make more setups and sell them on here. I should be going up to Toyota sometime next week to try to get a wiring diagram now that I have some part numbers. If anyone is interested, just let me know and I can tell you more info.

my 2 cents. if you want so many things i would sugesst Defi link or prbably go with other electronic type of control like Greddy e-manage. More than 2 -3 gauges is a bit too much for a car.

Are you saying that it would look too clustered?

Also, I've looked at the defi link and to get all the gauges to work its pretty expensive so that's one reason why I was looking at going this route.

Perhaps!
But with all the modifications I'm doing the gauges will show me if I have a problem before it destroys my engine.
IMO - I think that if they are installed nicely (pillar pod + custom fitment in the dash somewhere) it can look great and unclustered.

Absolutely!
I'm going with the Autometer gauges. They come with everything you need to install.
...and I have found a place that is cheaper than summitracing for them.

Um! What this then and what does it do.
I feel a search coming on!

Where did you find them the cheapest. Jegs is the cheapest place I've found the Phantoms at so far.

Infact it was by pure chance actually...
I was on ebay searching for brake line kits and came across the seller 'competitionwarehouseusa'.
The ST kit was not listed but I had the ref.number so I contacted them.
Very quick response and they SHIP WORLDWIDE (not expensive either).
So I bought a kit.
Anyway, I checked what other items they had and found Autometer gauges.
I think they were only a couple of dollars cheaper than summitracing.

Who are Jegs?
Do you have a link?
Do they ship to Europe?

They're a pretty big company basically like Summit Racing. I've bought stuff from them before and have always been pleased. I'm not sure if they ship to Europe. Just send their customer service an email and I'm sure they'll get back to you right away.
