So, noticed the heat in the convertible not working (not a huge problem as it's gonna really be a summer car)

But then I touched the hoses from the radiator which seemed to be dry and that concerned me.

I've now replaced the thermostat (figuring that was the issue) and still no heat after topping off the fluids and trying to bleed any air out of the system.

Anyone else experience this? Should I just temporarily bypass the heater core? 2-3 days ago also heard "water sounds" coming from the dash...noticed that both driver's side carpets were damp but I figured that was because I was getting in and out of the car with my kids and we had wet shoes from melting snow.

water sounds mean air bubbles still. i had the same issue in my 7th gen. i bought some 5/8 clear hose and 2 hose fittings. i flushed my heater core both directions. I started with flushing hose water into the outlet of the heater core and a LOT of crap came out. ran it fora few seconds and it cleared up. then swapped sides. did this 3 times both directions. then hooked back up and now i have a good heater

I guess I will have to try that on a warmer day. The car isn't over heating at all so I am just hoping I am not damaging anything.

No heat could be a variety of things, but first thing I would check is that the heater core is not plugged and the water control valve is operational. However you would still have hot coolant in the core even if it wasn't working. Are the heater hoses collapsed or pinched off, do they feel warm to the touch when the car is running at op temp with heat on? Water rushing sounds in the system mean that your coolant is low, so you could have a leak somewhere. If you pull the carpet back from either side of under the dash look for coolant collecting in the floor pan. Look at the drain tube that comes out of the evap box under the car, all coolant leaking out of the heater core area will collect in the evap box and drain out of there.
