"Looking excellent so far, just like the exterior."
I noticed you did the Exterior first, and also other people have as well. Is there any reason why one should do the exterior before engine work or interior work? I always thought it was better to work inside out to avoid any dings or scratches to paint or body. Of course you would be more careful if you're doing it yourself but what about a body shop? |

Here we go again..... Worked whole sunday, cuz with the previus design i hade some problems with the oil filter (the header stucked on oil filter ). Now i changed the design, bu the lenght of pipes stayed the same, avoided the oil filter problem (now the clearance is about 2 cm), and finally welded it. only thing is missing is the turbo flange... Run out of time.. So will finish it on next weekend.
Another news, if some of ya guys are interested in HEADER LIKE THIS, let me know, i can make 2 more header, so no more i think will be availible. let me know, price range is about 350$ for a header. So now lets move on the pics: -------------------- Ex celica owner - just a guy from other side of the pond...

I might be interested in getting one, but I've got a few questions. What type of turbo flange are you putting on it, like what turbo will bolt up? Does the 350 include shipping (if it doesn't about how much do you think that would be)?
Also, I'd like to see how everything fits in once you get everything put together and on the engine. Everything looks awesome though, keep up the incredible work. This post has been edited by BigEdge169: Mar 8, 2004 - 8:33 AM |

Where did you find the part that bolts up to the engine? Did you make that or order it from somewhere?

Here is the deal... i talked to one guy here, he has VW Corrado with like 450hp and stuff, he made these things before, and so on. He looked at my header and ya know what... He told it was made WRONG... So im kinda sad, cuz i trust this guy... First thing is that pipes diameter is to big to spool up turbo quick... Second, i did the BIG mistake shaving the welding marks... It will crack in these places then it will be hot... So... I think this header must go..... Going to give it another try this weekend with the smaller pipes, will see what happends...
Laterz.... -------------------- Ex celica owner - just a guy from other side of the pond...

That's a good point. Still, I'm sorry to hear that you went through all that work only to have it not turn out. That has happened to me before a couple times with some computer stuff, and it's not much fun. -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

Actually the second flange, and the second header that i will make will go on to the other 6GC member from Italy, to Edo, so thats why i made 2 flanges. Another thing, i checked the JGStools page for piping and seems that they use the same diameter, so huh? I think everything is ok with the diameter of pipes, ofcorse its a bit bigger then the stock, but i think i will try to work somthing out with this... in my opinion the bigger diamter is bit better i think then the too small. In that case i need the expert opinion, SpeedToe, Zip, OOBE, 97SC come one guys, i need your help!!!!! Tell me what yal think... -------------------- Ex celica owner - just a guy from other side of the pond...

well... I'm no expert but.... the pipe size for the exhaust system has always been proportional to the amount of power you will be making. More power equals more exhaust pressure so it really just depends on the hp numbers your looking for. Also the type of turbo has alot to do with it as well. I'd recomend a t3/t4 hybrid. I hear tons of good things about them. but like I said, I'm no expert. Just going off the things I've read.
